As I said yesterday to them it sounds like some sort of short or ground problem, makes sense that this could be the issue. Be interesting to see if it is.

Quite possible.

If they've played with something then that's what I'd be looking at first.

umm.. Under battery pipe was changed?... Forgive me if I'm wrong.. But there's a bunch of ground wires that get screwed down to the body where you bolt the under battery pipe down!!

My guess is that's half your problem, put the ground wire under neather the underbattery pipe rather than ontop..

we pulled that out, and checked the earth. it ran fine for about 24 hours since we put the ubp in, and we installed the ubp in my ute the same way and I havnt had a problem yet *touches wood*

I think the problem is his ubp is silver, and mine was black :spoton:

gonna check with a multimeter tonite after re installing the ubp.

Yeh, trust me.. the earth at the UBP is fine... there is no paint left on the surface where the earth straps to... plus it tested fine all day yesterday when we were testing it (we tested it heaps of times to make sure)

OK.... and update...

Ute is at Fraud now. They have ran numerous tests but cannot communicate with the pcm... they are led to believe that the pcm is dead....

The problem is that I have to fork out the near $1000 for the pcm regardless or whether that is the problem or not..

they don't have a test one!!

The customer service is sh*t up here (mildura).

Is anyone able to help me at all?

That's no good!

$1k and it might not even make a difference.

They can send it back if it is not the problem.

They will have no leg to stand on to make you pay for something that you do not need (assuming it is not the problem).

Remember you are relying on monkeys to diagnose a problem.

with out a warranty there is not alot you can do to avoid the cost mate, my only advice is to ring Ford Customer Relations (The number is in your service book) and complain that the service dept is going to charge you so much for what could be nothing...
