21/10/07 12:40 PM21/10/07 12:40 PM #1 help! tonight I was driving alongside my mates and accelerated and as the car was coming on boost (about 2500-3000rpm) the engine was making popping and spluttering sorts of noises. I only tried once more to see if it was intermittent but it wasn't. car drives fine off boost. on start up initially it doesn't really splutter at all but after a drive it seems to splutter more.any idea's?car's got k&n air filter, F6 intake, 42lb injectors, I think a walbro fuel pump, pwr stock replacement cooler, xforce 3" dump, cat and cat back exhaust and a custom tune though I don't know who tuned it. it's apparently running about 300rwkw.parts were installed by tim slacko west racing and tuned at APC wangara but back when they didn't have their own tuner.I was thinking maybe valve springs (still stock)? everything was done before I bought the car except for the F6 intake.cheersRhys
21/10/07 08:32 PM21/10/07 08:32 PM #4 the first obvious things that come to mind are coil packs or plugs???if it isnt that then I would say that its in the tune somewhere..
21/10/07 10:24 PM21/10/07 10:24 PM #5 apc is probably the problem! take it round the corner to bpt motorsport or take it to simon at xtreme ford tuning
22/10/07 12:28 AM22/10/07 12:28 AM #7 I'm no expert on these things but what about a dirty throttle body, could this cause this kind of problem??As some have said, take it back to your tuner or to BPT or Xtreme for a look if in doubt
22/10/07 06:53 AM22/10/07 06:53 AM #8 Author luckily tafe is just round the corner from simon. they suggested spark plugs as well but haven't got anytime to have a proper look at it today.was told the plugs got changed 15,000km's ago but can't be too sure and don't know what the gaps are on them.cheers guys if I can't get it into XFT I'll give barry a call at BPT too.Rhys
22/10/07 07:10 AM22/10/07 07:10 AM #9 If its got around 300rwkw, the plugs are probably due to be replaced, especially if the tune isn't prefect..
22/10/07 01:03 PM22/10/07 01:03 PM #10 if out a doubt go back and see your tuner, could be a dozen of faults that could cause this symptom, good luck mate
