Generic Tune - How Long

I am looking at getting one of the C&V Boys $495 flash boxes but am not planning on getting a custom tune for some time.

My question is to the guys who have had Generic Tunes loaded. How long have you had them in you car without any problems.

Things are I dont want to spend $995 at Nizpro to get a custom tune so I was thinking of just getting the AFR's & Boost Levels checked out once I have the box to make sure nothing is going to go boom.

I know 99% of you will say just get a custom tune but that isn't an option and wont be for some time unless someone wants to do it cheap but then you get what you pay for.

Had my C & V generic in for around 6000 ks no dramas but have last week had a custom tune.

But like you said if you can get the AFR's checked out you should be ok

Plus they are a bargain now Good luck

Dont do it, get it done properly or not at all, there is other software ie Bullet I think its called. Engines are not cheap.

James I ran generics for 2 months, lucky I got the custom when I did.

I had weak Valve Springs I could have done some major damage but I was lucky. I installed an intercooler and UBP and I was leaning out like crazy.

You also have a BA so once you load the generics get it check on the dyno if you intend to have them in for a while.

what are we looking at ($$) for getting the car on the dyno to make sure everything is ok?

or for that matter, a custom tune in WA?

I ran the generics for 3 months and just got a custom at Elite yesterday.. feels safer now and a much better spread of power..

Hey James.. finally gettinan edit ey.. good one. I dont know much about the generics cause I got a custom tune straight away, but I reckon if you get the afr's etc.. checked than it should be sweeet....

Nizpro are a bit $$$ I know but there are a few other choices that are also pretty good here in Melb..

I have had the CV generic edit for about 10 months now. Best mod ive done to my car and I love how good I runs with it. Ive done about 10,000k's on it and it hasnt missed a beat, floggings and all. I am a BF so your BA might be a lil different. A Custom tune is coming up shortly which along with everyone else is the best way to go. If your adament about getting the generic tunes then CV in my opinon are the safest way to go.

you can only really get away with a generic if that is your only mod. as soon as you add a cat or cooler or any major mod you NEED a tune.

get the generics, get it onto a dyno to check afr's. if its good stick with it, if its no good back to factory tune or get custom.

you should be fine.

WOW just bought my flash tuner from KPM adelaide today for $595, loaded the 8psi tune and I cant believe the difference!!! Why didnt I get this earlier! I dont know how you guys drive with 300kw +. Let the mods roll in
