According to this site they have an 9.5 to 1 compression ratio and run 15.6 psi of boost. Given the boost pressures WRX's and EVO run, and their similar size engine, I'm guessing this is probably about right. Direct injection looks pretty good though, given mazda have it, ford can't be to far away.

Seriously, who ACTUALLY BELIEVES any of the figures put out by magazines??

XR6T does a 14.2 (probably auto) and I managed a 13.8 stock... consistent 14 flat too.

Robbie.

Well done to Mazda for putting this car out. It sounds like its right there with XR5 and WRX, and my own fave the Golf GTI. Another hto hatch, but is it really an XR6T competitior, price is kinda close, but not the stamina of a T. IMO.

It's a good car, but not a T competitor.

One is a small hatch, the other a big family lugger.

Personally, I wouldn't want a high powered front driver. Too much wasted energy.

AWD or RWD is the way to go.

finally found one of these last night and they are very quick cars!

I was impressed for a small hatch (I think it was stock?)

their car was full and I was by myself and we went from his cars sweet spot (80kph?), and I woulda put 3 car lengths on it after letting him have half a car..

would have easily gone the other way if I had ppl in my car!

nice little hatch, would defn consider one for the missus.

I had a look at the 6 MPS at the motor show earlier in the year, they dont look to bad, but I would rather my XR6 Turbo..

A mate of mine who works for mazda took me for a drive in one and its pretty responsive and giddy's up and goes.

There's a guy that put an exhaust and filter on his not sure wat else and he's disappointed a couple of the local boys.
