I refuse to go the 6 speed as I dont like 6 speed boxes. Has anybody rebuilt their T5 to hold the power (as I am hoping to get done)??PS....Plus, I think the T56 is too much, its not worth that much.

I dont think theres much about T5's that he doesnt know. I remember seeing some picture that somebody posted of what happens to a T5 under that sort of load and the material the gears are made from and hardened with just isnt strong enough to handle the torque. I think by thet time you got one strong enough (if its possible..) it would cost more than a T56.. why dont you like the T56's? have you driven one that has been fitted with a short shifter......... ....
Muzza No V6 for me thanks!! Nothing wrong with the T56, and no - I do not beleive there is anything that can be done with any economy to strengthen the T5.Good luck with it!Ben.

PS hideous, I have not driven a XR6 T with a T56, however I have driven a number of cars with 6 speed boxes and I dont like having a first gear that revs out so quick ...... good example 350Z.
