Another T5 Bites The Dust

No problems.

If you check out one of my threads I have a picture of the mainshaft that is used to drive 5th & 6th gears, which are overdrive (thanks to Mal Wood).

I’ve just gone through a similar upgrade with my old Sti… out with the old 5 speed and in with a near new MY06 Sti 6-speed box.

I got the car back last night. In many ways it reminded me of the Ford upgrade, especially that when driving the car it “feels” so much stronger, and I believe that is because the gears are so much bigger. And a lot more expensive than the Ford upgrade, as it required upgraded CV’s, diff, clutch, rear discs…. Over $10k.

It makes the Ford T56 conversion look cheap.

Brian, you remind me of someone we both know, always tinkering with your cars! But as we know if you upgrade the engine output, the transmission and other related driveline components need upgrading as well.

The t56 is a great upgrade for the early Turbos, far far better than the T5 and now quite cost effective. Mal

The box is around 6900 plus clutch plus fitting if im not mistaken ???
