Grab 2 adjustable spanners and crack the large hex heads on the ends of the filter body. I think the filter is on the outlet side. When you have the screen out flush with a cleaner ( brake cleaner , wd 40 or something with pressure) Do this against the direction of flow so you are blowing the debris out of the filter and not thru it. Take a look with a magnifying glass or look up to the light to see if its clean. Clean it in a bowl so you can see if any interesting particles come out. If it looks clean put it back in , if not buy a new screen. When its time to clean mine , I wont bother cleaning, Iam just going to put a new one in.

Don't you just bin the filter in the Earl's kit and put a new one in? Not sure if that's the whole blue part or if it's internal... mine's sitting next to me but I ain't bothering to open it

IMHO filter isnt a nessecity but good piece of mind in case of engine failure. if the filter/screen does it's job the turbo cartridge will be one less item to replace

I have 2 Beltronics RX75 Pro (remote mount kits) with laser jammers sitting in my closet if you are serious. $1000 for the spare as I no longer need both.

If the oil filter is good enough for my engine then its good enough for my turbo....my "Tractor" 80 series factory turbo has done 400k and I doubt it has a screen in it....still going strong

Having owned my T since near new and doing my services every 5k like most of us gives me piece of mind... its had 2 x OEM filters put into it as well and they had a very slight carbon like deposits inside that sh*tty POS screen filter..

Correct me if I'm wrong Luke but my take on it is oil goes thru the pickup into the center of the filter medium,the oil then is filtered thru this and makes its way back down the outside of the filter and then while under pressure makes its way thru to all the galleries etc which inturn feeds the oil line to the turbs....

I know that ppl are for and against but this is what I have chosen to do....I always listen to the turbs wind down after I have shut it down and it actually sounds alot quieter for some reason,,,

Ive got a Escort X90 detector and was pretty good in most situations on the old KA band multi-nova's... but now with the new laser roadside cameras it still picks them up on Laser band but Im pretty much on top of the camera before the detector goes off... so is there really no "pre-warning" defence against these new laser road sides? Laser jammers the only option?
