Cheers for that!

Start Rant.

Went to pick up a friend of mine to go to the drags tonight. I arrive at his house and he still hasn't had dinner. So I waited around for half an hour then headed off. Get there at 8.30 ish and told that it will be finishing in an hour but still had to pay the $20 to get in. F*ck that. I then remembered that there was a cruise leaving from City West at 9, so I drove as close to the speed limit as possible to get there. Just arrived in time as they were leaving, went around the corner to get on the arse end of the cruise, but instead 2 cops on bikes thought they would pull me over. Asked me if it's was foggy, I said no and then they booked me $100 for the fog lights, plus 1 demerit point. Cautioned me for having bluish lights for my number plate lights, breathalysed me and looked at my car.

Sure the fog lights aren't meant to be on, but for F*CK sake, $100 and a demerit point. Now this is real front line policing hey.

Also missed the cruise. Great night out

Rant Over.

I have had the cops do the same thing to me, only it was the first night driving I had done after buying the car and didn’t realise that the little dash symbol was for the driving lights, I tried to explain this to him but he was a freshy out of the academy and knew it all.

I got a $100 fine but no demerit points, so next day I went down to the cop shop explained the situation and they cancelled the fine, he said the boys in blue had better things to do and would take it up with them, he also mentioned that it is not exactly illegal to have them on, but he advise I should limit the use of them.

Anyway if you’re not allowed to use them why the fark let the cars be licensed or sold with them in the first place, theres not alot a fog where I live and fog lights should have yellow globes not white, so are they really classified as fog lights????

My manual refers to them as driving lights, go figure. :crybaby:

 this is a coincidence I was pulled over on mon morning for the fog light crap, no fines or points but wasnt impressed with the young cop driving the sv6 silver hwp doing a u turn on leach why like I was a fkn bank robber made a semi lock it up , then preceded to almost run me up the arse ( I though here we go, waiting for the bang I was doing 60 at the time ) I pulled down a side street and got out of the car ,went straight to the back of my to see if he had hit me  ,then the 19yo cop bounces ot of the car and looks at the front of his haha ,I said to him was that all really called for at the same time the old cop gave the young school boy cop a big dirty look , he procedded to tell me that under section blablabla fog lights are no to be on during the day blabla as they dazzle people ,I said what a load of crap that is ,I told him the wattage of the fog lights is the same as the low beam (didnt have a clue what I was on about ,)then I told him the rac runs a campain on lights on during the day (im standing there in my rac work uniform on !!,and that with the amount of road crashes and stupid drivers out and about they are wasting resourses on pulling people over for having there lights on!!! having what I feel is saftey beneifit, then another cop car pulls up and starts looking at my tyres and running his hand in the rear gaurds laughing at the rubber he pulls out , but then the old cop just told me this is a warning only ,and he personally agrees with my view on the lights on during the day , then asks me if I have driven the new turbo falcon because they hammer !!!! :beerchug::bowdown: Edited by GCTXR6

The lights on our cars are actually driving lights not fog lights but the cops dont know the difference im pretty sure you could prove it in court

Fog lights are much brighter than our lights and have a different beam spread alot of euro cars do have fog lights

but as I said trying telling the coppers that

I was also pulled over the day I bought our toyota corrola (levin euro sports pack ill have you know before the payouts start) cop said your fog lightls are on and im light what fog lights he was reaching into my car looking for the switch getting all anoyed eventually had to let me go cause neither of us could find the switch

Thought I'd check the manual to see what Ford call them and unfortunately, they call them fog lights! Bugger! I thought I may of been able to get off on a technicality. Oh well.

Tried calling you phone D a little while ago but rang out.

You will find that driving lights are always on when you turn your headlights on and fog lamps can be turned off and must be able to be turned off. The ones on our falcons are definately foglamps not driving lights. Foglamps can also be yellow or white. The fine is $100 and 1 demerit point for driving with foglamps and another light exceeding 7watts (headlights) or $100 and 1 demerit for driving with foglamps on not in hazardous weather (not fog). Also you can only drive with foglamps on during daylight hours with out your headlights. If you drive with them on at night with out your headlights ,( just park lights) they will get you for driving not in hazardous weather $100 and 1 demerit and not driving with sufficient lights at night $100 and 2 demerits.

I found out all this when I got done a while back and took it to court. I lost. Although it cost me $100 for the fine and $112 for summons the magistrate didn't give me the demerit points.. win some lose some. I hope this clears it up for you all.

Also I agree that they are annoying as hell to oncoming cars especially WRX foggys. I dont drive with mine on anymore.......
