Have a series2xrt auto with a capa flash. All stock but considering adding a hiflo cat to the stock system. What sort of gains could I expect? Anybody out there have any experiences or opinions - can't go crazy as it is my work ride.

Cheers

Scotty

G'Day Scotty,

There was recently a fairly big thread about cats on the T and I think the agreed consensus is that the stock cat is the biggest restriction of the exhaust. I believe you can get around 240 rwkw with edit/unichip etc and everything else stock. I think a hi-flow cat can stretch that by about 20 kw then you are pretty much capped by the capacity of the stock injectors. These are guesstimations but there maybe someone here who has these mods who can give proven dyno figures.

when I got edited, HPF said that "the cat must have hi-flowed itself" :stirthepot:

248rwkw stock springs, fuel pump etc, so that may help those trying to see what effect the cat may have if it's hi flowed.

If it's true, I have no idea how it would have happened. :spoton:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I got to 257rwkw, stock exhaust, inc cat, injectors and xede,

with a high flowed cat and no other mods 277rwkw was the result.

relpaced with APS exhaust and 293rwkw with no other mods.

I know the edit will have different results, but I was surging etc indicating the stock cat was holding me back.

I think the stock cat, on a good day should let you get to 250-260rwkw, but back pressure etc will be an issue, more heat etc etc, the amount of exrta low down grunt from a high flow is unbelievable.

My T is currently limited to 8psi and 245rwkws. The cat is what is suspected to be the restriction but yet to have it back to HPF for more testing.

Interesting results. Pretty much what I expected though given the quality of the aps exhaust. 36rwkw gain over stock :crybaby:

Damn I want that APS exhaust...

And the intercooler. Quality stuff indeed :crybaby:

Check out http://www.bestmufflers.com/Information/Cu...yno_results.htm

One of my dyno sheets (the 206kw one) shows a comparison of cat vs no cat. This should give you all an idea how restrictive the std cat is, and yes, it is the major restriction
