I'm on my second clutch and gearbox. Both are buggered again. Bring on the final clutch fix.

When its right I think it will be fine. Its a T56 so she ain't ever going to be super smooth. Imho a manual is more involving than an auto, and for a performance car 'involvement' is what its all about.

Do u think that your gearbox problems are related to your power or is it just u have been unlucky with sh!t boxes?

Problem is the clutch not the box. The clutch drag destroys the syncros so the box ends up buggered because of the clutch.

Had first clutch and box changed before upgrade so power had nothing to do with clutc/box issues.

The 6 speed has been fitted to a fairlane and a xr6 turbo and currently undergoing testing a yuo yangs, one of the marketing guys drove the fairlane 6 speed auto from melb to albury and said the box is that smooth you cant feel it changing.

It will be very similar to the jag box wont be the same box cause its to expensive,

BTR are buidling the 6 speed for FORD up at albury or something, so hopefully b the end of the year or early next you will see it in the GT Phoon and xr6 turbo and xr8.

Your info sounds very impressive but I cant see why ford would put a 6 speed auto in the falcon and not just a 5 speed auto. 6 speed auto sounds rare and very expensive. They would get the same marketing and popularity result out of a 5 speed auto. Really a 6 speed auto sounds to good to be true, but I do look forward to seeing it. I think such a box would be made available on the 2007 falcon, a bit early for MkIII.

Being happy with a 5 speed when you can have a 6 speed kinda sounds like being happy with 5" when you could have 6"...........

the reason they can do it is Jaguar already has a 6 speed box that they have been using in their xj40 and xkr-r simple inventory share

I think you've got your Jaguar models mixed up dude.

XJ40 - 1986 - 1994

X300 - 1994 - 1998

X308 - 1998 - 2004

I don't think Jaguar would have had 6-speed autos in 1986. in fact I know they had a ZF 4-speed autos.

4.17, 2.34, 1.52, 1.14, 0.87, 0.69. Yes, that's right a first gear of 4.17!!! And no direct driven gear anywhere!.

that's going to make getting a comparable rwkw dyno figure hard, but we all know how much water rwkws reading hold.

It should haul ar$e though with those ratios, if you can hold traction in first it will really get off the line.

As someone mentioned the X5... my old man has a 3.0 Turbo Diesel X5 and the 6 speed in those things feels like it rockets up to 100 clicks with minimal effort and then putts around in 6th on the highway at 6-7l/100km

and it shifts smooth and silky... and is the same config as the SSS in the way of D = fully auto, across one click to the left = performance auto, and then the up and down for gear shifts.

I can't wait for the 6 speed.

Shame it'll probably cost me another $40k to upgrade models :( dam resale.

I don't think that's correct, I believe the auto will be made by Ford US under licence from ZF. They are just about to go into production at the Sharonville plant ?, and I think Ford Oz will use this version as they will be able to get it cheaper from here than from ZF directly. Ford only has a contract with ION (no longer BTR) till 2007 and that is only to supply the current 4 speed which will probably still be used in the XT and Futura until the all new model in 2007, after which ION will probably be arse up as they are in a hell of a mess at the moment financially.
