21/12/04 08:10 AM21/12/04 08:10 AM #11 Benny, sorry mate, your an idiot, and it's attitudes like that that sh#$ me off....Think about it rationally, he was in a Skyline, with a silver car along side him. He hit a 4WD, hit a kerb, then a pole and the car ended up in pieces. Now, if he was a casual driver doing 60kph when the 4WD cut him off, then he applies the brakes, maybe skids because he's inexperienced, and ends up on the shoulder/kerb. He gets out, abuses the s%%^T outa the 4wd driver, and they go home and have a nice chrissy.OR, He's street racing his newly imported skyline-he's showing off to his girl how fast it is, and woops, the 4WD didn't see them comin at 'x' speed, bang dead, and he takes another person with him, AND FOR WHAT???Lucky my wifes astra that only packs a 114kw punch, coz when that's doing 160km/h, it won't kill anyone.GET REAL.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>He's no more an idiot than someone who assumes too much - he at least said he didn't have the details of the incident at the time he posted - I don't think anyone did, even now the cops are still investigating, so go on assuming all you like but you DON'T KNOW what happened any more than Benny or Santa Claus.I'm so glad you have such faith in the Astra - ever seen the effects of one that has hit a pole at 40kph? I have ... not much Astra left!!! YES, I did mean 40kph!PS From accounts so far it seems the 4WD was stationary waiting to make a right hand turn ...
21/12/04 10:20 AM21/12/04 10:20 AM #12 What does it matter that it was a 4wd?? I believe it was innocent. They should introduce power-to-weight laws for younger drivers - that could be a start.

OK, I agree, no details, but looking at the facts, as a result of the accident, I thought I could quite safely assume the P plater was infact not doing 60kph when he hit a STATIONARY vehicle, then a power pole, and ended in death, in a skyline, that may not have been turbo. SORRY.> retraction.
21/12/04 11:13 PM21/12/04 11:13 PM #15 Not much info on the circumstances of the accident. Was the driver of the Skyline at fault, was he speeding. Can't really blame the P plater without the full details.I wouldn't class a skyline as a high powered vehicle when a GTST only puts out roughly 180kw standard. I'm all for the restiction of P plate drivers in high powered vehicles but I can't see it fixing the problem of young deaths on our roads.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Sorry, I am really going to need to beg the differ on this one, My r33 GTS-T put out 265kw with about $3k of mods on it, that 80% of the skylines have fitted already, and I can guarentee 99% of young drivers of these cars have modded versions. They are not a "slow" car.Still, banning the cars will not stop people killing themselfs, they will just illegally kill themself.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>READ what he said - a standard car. NOT your modded version. Now Benny was not aware of the circumstances as he said - later news reports have claimed a high speed road race preceeded the incident. Now, on Milperra Rd that could be in an Astra doing 140kph - end result would have been the same.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Glad to see that you read my post as intended Turbo6man. I'm not here to lay blame or call people names. Just here to try and keep people open minded and find all the facts before believing the media and the bad name they're trying to give to fellow inthusiests and their cars.Unfortunately this crash incident is now pointing towards the act of street racing. Disappointing.

They are taking over our roads. You see them everywhere - outside schools travelling at 60kph in 40 zones, in carparks taking up two spaces, big bullbars on the front just waiting to catch a slow pedestrian and cut him to shreds ... I could go on and on ...

All these deaths on the roads is just sad...I dont wanna read the entire thread...makes everything depressing
26/12/04 03:04 AM26/12/04 03:04 AM #18 I thought the police were supposed to be having a blitz. I've been out every night this weekend and haven't seen a single RBT, and there seems to be fewer patrol cars than normal!

I could go on and on ...:spoton:I own a new Landcruiser and my modified T - ute. I have the landcruiser to use on a daily basis and to tow things up the beach. Granted, there are some hopeless 4wd drivers, but there is an equal amount of plain useless drivers full stop. If someone cuts you off in traffic in a car, you may get pissed, however, a 4wd driver does the same thing, then the narrow minded ones start off on 4wd drivers. Makes no sense really.I'll give you the tip also, I have had not one single issue with my 'cruiser compared to my T. Much quieter, smoother. Doesn't go quite as well as the ute though..................
