21/12/04 01:58 AM21/12/04 01:58 AM #2 Not much info on the circumstances of the accident. Was the driver of the Skyline at fault, was he speeding. Can't really blame the P plater without the full details.I wouldn't class a skyline as a high powered vehicle when a GTST only puts out roughly 180kw standard. I'm all for the restiction of P plate drivers in high powered vehicles but I can't see it fixing the problem of young deaths on our roads.
21/12/04 02:03 AM21/12/04 02:03 AM #3 The problem was a 4WD that got in their way while they were having a street race ...Banning high powered vehicles won't in itself fix the problem we all know.It would be just as sensible to ban 4WDs from suburban streets

21/12/04 05:18 AM21/12/04 05:18 AM #5 Certainly a sad state of affairs. In regards to high powered cars being the cause of P plater deaths, maybe the NSW government should take a look at the Mischeif Invasion DVD. Because the main driver in the DVD has his car impounded in the UK on arrival (M3 fully modded) for the european Canonball run, he had to use a Ford mondeo rent a car. 0-60 in 10.4 seconds they said. It's amazing he survived with some of the speeds he was hitting and at the same time overtaking trucks on the shoulder. He was so crazy on the roads, that he caught upto and passed a GT3 (The GT3 was driven like crazy aswell) that had a 1 hour head start across one of the legs. People can be stupid in any car. Education is whats needed. Teach drivers to be less stupid and more aware.
21/12/04 05:33 AM21/12/04 05:33 AM #6 Benny, sorry mate, your an idiot, and it's attitudes like that that sh#$ me off....Think about it rationally, he was in a Skyline, with a silver car along side him. He hit a 4WD, hit a kerb, then a pole and the car ended up in pieces. Now, if he was a casual driver doing 60kph when the 4WD cut him off, then he applies the brakes, maybe skids because he's inexperienced, and ends up on the shoulder/kerb. He gets out, abuses the s%%^T outa the 4wd driver, and they go home and have a nice chrissy.OR, He's street racing his newly imported skyline-he's showing off to his girl how fast it is, and woops, the 4WD didn't see them comin at 'x' speed, bang dead, and he takes another person with him, AND FOR WHAT???Lucky my wifes astra that only packs a 114kw punch, coz when that's doing 160km/h, it won't kill anyone.GET REAL.

I've been over a kerb at much less than 60 both as a passenger and a driver. Both times I was lucky enough that there wasn't a power poll there.I do agree though, that it appears this particular car was travelling at a much faster speed than 60.
21/12/04 06:57 AM21/12/04 06:57 AM #8 attitude, then ability. too much of either will land u in the morgue if you dont have equal amounts of the other.
21/12/04 07:45 AM21/12/04 07:45 AM #9 saying that a skyline is not a high powered car is stupid, I have only just sold mine and all the mods I had done to it where boost controller (14psi) frount mount and a pod filter and the thing was running 13sec passes now I do beleive that that would be classed as high powered and all this cost me round $800 to do an r32 stock runs 14.5, the problem with skylines now is they are coming to regular and affordable to the younger driver who has no experience just as XRT UTE said attitude then ability

NOT your modded version. Now Benny was not aware of the circumstances as he said - later news reports have claimed a high speed road race preceeded the incident. Now, on Milperra Rd that could be in an Astra doing 140kph - end result would have been the same.
