As some of you know I have been going through the motions of getting Ford to fix my driveline clunking. I took the car last week to Ford for the FoMo engineer (?) to inspect the car and give me a report. When I picked the car up, I was told that I have been placed on the warranty alert system because I have a BMC filter, Twinpod gauges and Unichip (APS P1). Oh and they found no problem with the driveline.

Today I got a letter from Ford and it reads:

Dear Mr.Xxx

We refer to your recent contact regarding your reported concern with the operation of your 2004 BA XR6 Turbo Sedan.

After investigating your concern with your Dealership, T..tan Ford and a Technical representative from Ford Motor Company of Australia (Ford Australia), we can confirm that your vehicle is operating to manufacture's specification and is congruent to other vehicles in the model line.

Ford Australia has been advised of your vehicle enhancements and wish to highlight that any failure in regards to vehicle modification or as a result of any vehicle modifications would not be covered under the terms and conditions of your Express New vehicle warranty.

We trust this clarifies Ford Australia's position in this regard and thank you for the opportunity to review this concern.

Yours Sincerly

Wow Thanks Ford. Not only have you told me that the Clunk is normal, but the installation of a Unichip to fix a problem that Ford could not fix (Surging) has resulted in me being blacklisted on the warranty alert system.

I have told my service department that the unichip is a loaner and will be removed, I will then get the car inspected again and will be insisting on my car being removed from their system.

All this does is reinforce what everyone is saying about Ford and their service...IT SUCKS :gooff:

I remember you telling us about this before the Bathurst cruise - what a shonky letter to receive after all the times you've had it back at the Service Dept! Especially blacklisting you!!!

I haven't witnessed the clunk 1st hand, but I'm sure it's not good enough considering the trouble you're going to in order to get it sorted!

Best of luck mate. You're gonna need it! :gooff:

Welcome to the list, mine got put on it when it went in for a diff leak, which they fixed. They nicely told me that a Ford rep was down for the day and noticed my car and had asked the service manager to have a quiet word to me about being put on the list of modified vehicles.

Hey Ford listen to your customers!!!

If that's manufacturers specification's then you have openly admitted to building poor quality cars!

One of your dealership Service managers test drove my car the other day and not only did he bounce it back and forth on the driveline like we were bunny hopping whilst pulling out of the dealership in 1st, he managed to get the car to clunk every gear!! Amazing considering he was actually trying to drive the car smoothly which resulted in him looking at me and shaking his head! :gooff:

All part of the Ford driving experience Hey?

Well I am happy for you to blacklist me once I mod my car, if it means a smoother driving experience, and the less I have to deal with your people then SEEEYA!!

If your priorities are more about blackbanning your customers rather than resolving their genuine issues, take your fat profits, your lack of customer service, your unmotivated and unhappy workforce and disregard for the people that purchase your products, and long term watch your company never become anything less than a poor quality car manufacturer :

Ahh that's better :gooff:

I second all that!!!!!

maybe we could produce a sticker... something like

"Like the clunk??? its within fords specifications!!!,

dont like the clunk? dont buy an xr6t, cause on these cars its normal"

We could all stick something similar on our back windows... al we need is 5-10 cars in every capital city and thousands will see and witness the great quality that ford is producing.

a sticker to this affect is not slander, as it's actually true..... its only slander if we lie.

whos up for a sticker??? who can think of a good one??

I agree with this. But remember, while the T is seen as a 'best bang for your buck' sort of car, Ford will always have the attitude of 'You get what you pay for,' And I think they said that in nicer words when they wrote 'we can confirm that your vehicle is operating to manufacture's specification and is congruent to other vehicles in the model line' in the letter.

1) The T is one of the best BFYB's around.

2) It's locally made

3) It's a very run of the mill car.

4) It's quick.

5) It looks good.

6) (God knows how) But Ford are making good $$$ on these cars.

As much as I think it's wrong, Ford don't really have to fix issues like this because they know they can get away with it.
