    Paint Protection

DON"T DO IT!!! I was in the same boat the dealer was offering me the same thing, actually more like force feeding me rather than offering, so before I decided I talked to a mate who applys this stuff at another car dealership and he says it's a total waste of money and massively over priced. He did admit it looks good, but the finish is nothing I couldn't achieve myself with some good wax and a lot less expense.
  2. Are you saying that the oil hasn't been changed at all? Or has it been done at 15000km and you were going to do it again at 20000 but didn't? If that's the case I wouldn't worry to much, 5000km isn't a lot of time, the oil will last a lot longer than that. For me it seemed logical to change the oil and filter half way between services, 7500kms after one of the 15000km services, I just use the trip B meter to keep track of exactly what I'm doing.
  3. The computer does not reset at 10,000 or any other km mark as far as I'm aware, the engine probably just freed up a bit.
  4. BLKXRT sorry to hear about the tranny mate. I know you have a Unichip fitted to the ute and I seem to remember a thread about you installing bigger injectors, and I seem to remember you liked to fiddle is there anything else you have done to the T? 289rwkw is impressive considering that the Unichip alone gives 280kw at the engine according to APS. How did you go with those 18's?
  5. What are you talking about? Yes the XR6T has problems, and Ford warranty fixes these problems (or trys to). Just because the car has problems doesn't mean the warranty process is f%^ked up. The warranty terms and conditions have no impact on the cars reliability. As for Ford Detroit Read the Cars Guide from the Herald Sun from 26th December, it's obvious Ford America don't give a rats clacker about Ford Australia, and that info comes from Ford execs. Bottom line:If you modify your car you should expect your warranty for related items to that mod to be void.
  6. You are spot on there mate, except it's actually like GTX3 not Magnatec, the FMX is semi synthetic whereas GTX3 is non synthetic, FMX and GTX3 are both 15W-40, I've spoken to the Castrol rep about this very subject.
  7. Err.....No! I use Castrol GTX3 in my T, yes that's right I actually stick to the recommended grade, and I haven't noticed any black bits of dried snot in the oil, but it's changed in between services anyway so maybe there's no time for these to develop. Do you know whether your dealer actually puts Magnatec in your car? The reason I ask is because on my service invoice it lists Magnatec and when I asked why they put the wrong grade oil in my car they said the correct oil had been put in the car (GTX3) but theinvoicing program they use will only accommodate one oil type so every invoice is printed out showing Magnatec as the used oil, bit limited don't you think? Have a great new year everyone!
  8. Heathcote is about 30 minutes east from Bendigo in Victoria, but the actual drag strip is closer to axedale which from bendigo is about 15-20 minutes.

    Wax Warning

Cro do not use a rotary buffer get an orbital buffer less chance for swirls. And try using a thinner coat of wax, as for getting it out of all the nooks and crannys don't put it there in the first place be more careful with the application.
  10. The hella genuine covers will fit, I know, I know, members here have tried and they won't. I have seen these fitted and you have to completely remover the light, fit the cover and put the light back in the bumper, sounds like a lot of mucking around. Ah, bugger it just get the film! Just wanted to dispell the myth.
  11. Hey Scootre, Your first posts makes it sound like the dealer has the car but their just not putting it through the PD. Is this the case? Or is the car still to arrive to the dealer? If the dealer has it and they just haven't done it I would tell them to drive that T right up their arse! But on the other hand if the dealer doesn't have the car yet you can't blame them. Warning - Personal Experience With Salesman I do know how you feel, I ordered my T in march so the dealer had plenty of time to get it by July, which is when I wanted it, and even then it was a month late! The lying rat of a salesman said it would be on time, but they only forwarded the order to ford at the end of June! If it wasn't for someone else on this forum with access to the internet build scheduling website they would have got away with it. In any case I hope it all works out for you. Good luck!

    All Ford Day

There's also a FPV & FPR open day on the 29th of Feb.
  13. Thanks hypnodoc, forgive me for being stupid but does that mean the they don't supply the piping from the cleaner pod to the engine? As ms700's modification shows you need the change the piping because the original won't fit. How did you do it?
  14. The pictures on their website aren't very good so I have a few questions. Is the intake tube a replacement part or do you still use the original XR6T pipe? Why not use the XR8 intake if your going to use the XR8 air cleaner assembly? How do they overcome the difference in piping sizes between the XR6T and XR8 between the engine and the filter? Thanks in advance for any help guys.
  15. I guess if we did become a club the membership fees would help Chris out with the costs of the site, but would everyone join up? If we became a club would members only be able to use this forum? I think it would be unfair to the paying members if anyone could still use this forum without joining up once it became a club. Would paying members be the only people allowed to events and cruises because they would be covered by the policy? There has to be an advantage for a member over someone just signed up to the forum. I think the insurance costs would be scary, but I guess with enough members this could be offset, but on second thought would it really be needed? After all we all have our personal insurance, if I hit someone my insurance would cover that not the clubs, wouldn't it? Finally, I think Chris has done an outstanding job with this forum and I love it, the people and the info that is available at a keystroke is great! :banghead: And once Christmas is behind me I'll make a donation in January, club or not. Chris

    Calder 19th Dec

Thanks for the reply Peter. I see the racing starts at 6pm, is this actually the case or does it normally start later? I can't get there until 6.30 -7.00pm, I would hate to miss the action! And another question, can people get a good look at the cars and talk to the people who own/drive them? Last time I was there I saw some people getting over the wall where the cars line up waiting but wasn't sure if it's allowed for safety reasons or something like that.
  18. Hambo could it be?........Have you actually ordered your ute?.........Oh, no hey. Yeah, thought so. Oh well there's always tomorrow!
  19. Why a pre-programmed Xede? Why not fit all the bits and pieces and tune the chip prefectly to that car? Aren't there small differences between different engines so whats could for one isn't always good for another?

Are both APS and Nizpro actually going to be there? Last time I went one of them was going but never turned up. Since it takes me 1.5 hours to get there is it possible to get a confirmation of the "showdown".
  21. I've had mine for 151 days and have covered 9940km that's an average of about 66km per day. Bloody girlfriend always wanting to go cruising!
  22. Again I have the same questions already asked above, and I'm not certain but if we become an official club I think we will have to get public liability insurance for cruises and other events, does anybody know if this is correct or not?
  23. What FORDTECH's saying is quite right, if the techs don't know where to start looking for the problems what should they do....start randomly replacing parts until it's fixed, that's unfortunately never going to happen. FORDTECH and the other techs on this forum are only trying to help us out with our problems and if your not prepared to listen to their advice don't make posts asking for any information.
  24. Thank for all your help guys, she's off to the dealer tomorrow to get it looked at, aswell as the loud rattling on the exhaust, no doubt loose heat shielding and a screamin power steering pulley.
  25. Right on brother!
