  1. No offense Rootster but it's kind of funny, in a poetic justice/ironic kind of way, how you were saying yesterday in that other thread that police should have more power in police chases and all, and then you kind of try to flee from the cops yourself a day later.
  2. I'm guessing that the quoting for the "Edumacation Revolution" school buildings went something along the lines of this.... Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence in Yarralumla. One is from Canberra, another from Melbourne, and the third one is from Sydney. All three go with a government official to examine the fence. The Canberra contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works out some figures with a pencil. “Well”, he says, “I figure the job will run to about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me”. The Melbourne contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says “I can do this job for $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me” The Sydney contractor doesn’t measure or figure, but leans over to the government official and whispers “$2,700”. The government official, incredulous, says “You didn’t even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?’ The Sydney contractor whispers back “$1,000 for me, $1,000 for you, and we hire the bloke from Melbourne to fix the fence”. “Done!” replies the government official. And that, my friends, is how the new stimulus plan will work.
  3. Dad has that Canon (or maybe its the 110 with 9 megapixels) and I borrowed it when I went OS last year. Nice camera with excellent zoom and manual settings for a noob like me to play with to pretend I was the next Peter Jarver or similar. We got some good night pics with it. We used Li-Ion AA batteries for it which lasted ages (from memory nearly 500 shots but I could be wrong) which in our case suited better than recharging the *beep* every night.
  4. Yep same here, pulling the handbrake makes the sound disappear. The FG handbrake is already proving more useful than the BA/BF one, it stops the car rolling AND stops the annoying sound....
  5. You can get the same effect just by having your mrs in the car...
  6. I was gonna say Volvo XC90

I found Maxxis MA-Z1 (245/35R19) excellent bang for buck. I reckon they're quieter and grippier than the stock Dunlops, in both wet and dry as well as braking. Have done about 10,000km and they seem to be wearing well. Considering they're about half the price of similarly rated tyres in that Motor mag test I'm more than happy with them.
  9. LOL... Nice refrigerat....... uh, I mean car Wow you must really hate driving. Are you trying to punish yourself for something?

A bloke at work has his own Rolls Royce that he chauffeurs on weekends around Brisbane. He reckons you'd be looking at $500/hr for a stretch Hummer, maybe even up to $750/hr. I'll ask him about other kinds of limos as he knows a few other drivers and companies.

  13. Most popular CAI for B-series N/As has been using the XR6T upper snorkel as it's bigger than the N/A one, and the F6 secondary lower intake with a K&N panel filter. I used it on my old BA. I think the general concensus was the SS Inductions was a waste of money. I'm looking at selling my old setup as it's no longer a use to me and is collecting dust. The Bluepower box proved probably the best gains but has a pretty high price tag on it as well and I found it hard to justify the price. Ford Forums has a lot of stuff on N/A mods.
  14. LOL "assmologist" sounds like the professional title for a practicing ghey lord... Yeah I'm bummed I missed this one too.
  15. Who cares about the camera's margin of error... what about our speedo's margin of error... stupid pricks
  16. Interested to see if this works, so I can try it on my old man's ute hehe. Nothing worse than driving down the paddock with the ding ding ding...
  17. Yeah my FG ute has an obvious vibration when idling in "D" too. Kind of sux when you're trying to show off the ute to someone and it just sits there vibrating and shaking. Felt like it was just idling too low. My old BA exhaust had a very sh*tty fart-in-a-can rattle sound under load too.
  18. Yeah it's amazing those cameras ever catch anyone considering the mass rolling road block that usually passes them, no one gets a chance to drive even at the limit let alone above it. That said, I managed to drive past at a whopping 90km/h this morning with the speed demon tarago pacecar in front of me.
  19. Woah, thought that was a microfibre washing mitt on the back of the ute at first glance.... then I realised it had legs. Ace, were you driving south on the Cunningham Highway at Amberley yesterday arvo?
  20. Well it's not just filtering out "bad" porn, it's filtering out anything with refused classification which could also include "good" porn. The fact is it isn't 100% accurate so it doesn't block all the sites it should, and it blocks a percentage of sites that it shouldn't. It only works on HTTP and most of the dodgy dealings are likely done using other protocols like IM messengers, ftp, irc, peer to peer etc. which makes it next to useless. It's only really going to stop people accidentally coming across dodgy crap as if someone really wanted to find it, the filter would be relatively easily circumnavigated. It also has an overhead on our already typically ordinary internet download speeds. In general it's a piss poor techological solution with a high cost and no clear advantages. They're taking money away from the federal police that is spent trying to catch paedos etc and putting it into this filter which will make parents feel safe with their kids surfing the net unsupervised.
  21. The Government has confirmed it's going to proceed with the internet censorship... Measures to improve safety of the internet for families | Senator Stephen Conroy | Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy Love how the report details cold hard facts and quotes specific measured values like "a small amount" and "negligible". This is an interesting view on the announcement Australia Confirms Censorship Plans, Tells Fibs On The Filtering Trial
  22. Well that sux. Note to self: avoid dealer, and learn to live with annoying wind noise.
  23. Yeah I've got the same wind noise/whistle, its freaking annoying
  24. Oh yeah love The Mars Volta Just a shame they were formed from the demise of At The Drive-In
