  1. as a few have said, I'd be holding on till I saw orion.. if you don't like it, then I'm sure you'll get some great run out prices on the BF F6s
  2. yeah mate, I've heard that can be the case. It's something I'll look into for my next car... mind you, that might still be a year or so away.. but I'm just trying to gauge all my options. The more I know, the better my decision will be.
  3. thanks guys, I really don't think a lease will have much advantage for me.. and I'm not sure I like the sound of a residual at the end.. at least if I borrow, when it's paid off the money left will actually come off the price of the new car. I completely forgot about the whole residual side of things..
  4. Hey guys, I'm considering a lease type option on my next car, as I've heard it can save a few bucks in tax, and various other good pointers... what I was wondering though, how much do you guys pay per month, and what was the purchase price of the car? I'll be buying either another XR6T, VE SS, or GT, depending on price and deals. Hopefully I'll get away with spending between 40-55k. Also, does the monthly cost include fuel, tyres, services, rego and insurance etc?? I'm basically trying to do the sums and see if it really will benefit me or not. At the moment, I pay $1050 per month (not lease) but that was because I added extra to the loan when I got the car.. so the total loan was a tad over 50k... based on that, if the lease cost is around $1000 per month and includes all of what I mentioned above, I think it may be a good option. What do you guys think? and for those that lease, does it work for you? Cheers guys, Jimmy.
  5. yep, I agree mate.. I too have thought about getting another tune, just to see how it drives, and how different it might be. There's probably a couple of shops around canberra worth giving a shot now, but it'll be good to see a few more runs on the board.
  6. I haven't noticed the "flash" from the camera at the fyshwick lights.. usually it'll flash at every red light (unless these are different). But so far, I haven't noticed any flashes, but who knows..
  7. that's the thing I love about the current motor though, it doesn't have to rev to 8000rpm.. 5500rpm and it's up and really going, while the other V6s are still trying to reach peak power.. I dunno, time will tell.
  8. Bugger I travel that road to work everyday. I'm bound to forget myself one day
  9. I guess that means I'll be keeping this car longer.. or trading for the orion model.. or HSV. I wonder if the price of a falcon will come down after 2010? with so many more engines being produced, one would think it would be cheaper for ford australia, particularly when it comes to R&D.
  10. congrats mate
  11. I reckon it's 340hp... which equals around 253rwkw 340rwkw
  12. follow this link mate, it has some pics.. I think he looks great when colour coded! I'm even considering selling my car now, and saving up for 3 years to buy one outright
  13. sorry to hear Brian, what a shame .. glad that everyone is ok, and at least not all was lost with the parts!! Best of luck with whatever the new project may involve
  14. here's an in car clip, I have centre muffler removed, hi flow cat and hotdogs in place. here's an outside of car clip it sounds better in real life though..
  15. I was once told by a mate who was doing police studies/law studies or something along those lines, that the reason they only get you from behind is to avoid the possibility of someone being "stunned" or having their vision impaired by the front on flash.. If someone got flashed and their vision was impaired slightly and they had an accident, I wonder where they'd stand
  16. The more I watch soccer, the more I want something to be done about fakers/divers/time wasters!! Seriously, in a non contact sport... how the f*ck did the oman team need 5 or 6 players taken off by stretcher!! It's rubbish. The amount of time they took a dive, or faked injury to stop Australia's momentum was bullsh*t. I think it's about time that soccer looked at it more seriously, perhaps with an after match review committee.. blatant diving, time wasting or faking injury should be dealt a yellow card for the next game. Anyways, that's my rant... I suppose Australia got out of it at the end.. but still, it took till injury time to equalize!!
  17. I had a 4WD sitting in the right lane last night on the way home from work, doing 60-65km/h in an 80 zone... needless to say I did flash them, and they still didn't move.. they did however speed up and even once they got past the cars in the left, they still didn't move over!! so I was forced to over take in the left hand lane
  18. if you honestly feel that you didn't see the signage due to poor light, or bad placement, I'd raise the issue and see if it helps.. on the other hand, if you knew you were parking illegally, I'd just cop it.. it can't hurt to ask!
  19. all good in theory, to have a tune to go back to if it rains.. but trust me, when it does rain, I doubt you'd be f*cked sitting there 5mins changing the tune (perhaps I'm ultimate lazy though ), just because the road is wet. They're fine in the wet, provided you don't floor it. It's just a matter of altering your driving slightly...
  20. cai, injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, tune and hi flow cat should see a comfy 300rwkw, perhaps more
  21. for me, 300rwkw is more then enough at the moment! Driving in the wet, I'm very cautious when overtaking, especially on two way roads. I rarely use boost in the wet, when I do it's only brought on very gradually, and I won't put the foot flat! In the dry though, it's really a different story, I've basically adapted my driving style to suit. At first it took a little getting used too, as I was still used to just hitting the go pedal.. now I'm more cautious of bumps, dirt, or anything else that may or may not be seen on the road! It's all about the right foot, and it took me a little while to really figure it out. My advice, to anyone who hasn't had a T with power upgrades before... although it will cost a little more, I'd be more inclined to go in stages.. I'm glad I had 250rwkw before going straight to 300rwkw, and I'm glad I'll have had 300rwkw before my next power upgrade to 350rwkw. There's almost a world of difference between stock-250-300-350 etc etc. Obviously the experienced blokes, who've been there done that, then they can go straight for 500 but for the younger blokes, in hindsight, I'm very thankful I did it in stages... and that's after an accident too. At the end of the day, it will depend on the driver, and their attitude. I've really calmed down a lot with my car, even when people egg me on, or when I have that Late model camira up my ass. Sure I'll give it a squirt, but I don't think it's worth the life of myself, partner, child or anyone else's. At the end of the day, I'd probably use my cars full power, a few times a month... the potential to lose one's licence is massive.. going WOT to 5000rpm through 3rd or 4th will usually see the speedo go way past the limit. Enjoy the power, but I've realised I don't need to give it hell everytime I hop in the car... perhaps I'm going soft since my 25th birthday or maybe having a child has softened those hardened habits
  22. the round about heading towards manuka near st clares on canberra ave/wentworth ave is one of the worst for cars turning right from the left hand lane. I drive that road everyday for work, and I see people turn right from the left lane at least 4-5 times monthly.. I've nearly been cut off by the pr*cks too... I tend to try and stay in the left hand lane on that round about, especially when I'm in the XR.. I don't need any further headaches from idiots who don't know the road rules.. FFS, it even has arrows pointing which way you can turn.. how hard can it be?
  23. I had a thread on this issue a fair while back now.. and I'm yet to try and resolve the issue. I've just learnt to live with it. Mine only does it at part throttle, when cruising around 2000-2500rpm. However, when I push the go pedal, no more surge. Still not sure what the problem is, but I've got used to it.. the missus drove the car for the first time in ages the other day, and she rang me concerned about it... so it's obviously still present, I just ignore it and forget about it
  24. I thought number three was my car... this one perhaps
