  1. So definitely the SL will be the go on the front. Hopefully these SL X I have sitting there are the same ride height. if not they would probably suit the big heavy boss motor in my GT
  2. On the rear springs? No I haven’t yet. Depending how the front looks I may slot in a top and or both top and bottom nolathane spring pads for fine tuning the rears. I used them on my GT-P But don’t remember them being 10mm think. Maybe 5mm?
  3. I’ll check my roster. If clear I’m in for sure!
  4. Your car sits sweet. What are your hub to guard measurements? I have new sssl rears and measure between 330-335. if I can get the fronts to be close to 340-345 fully settled I’ll be happy as Larry.
  5. After searching high and low trying to figure out the ride hight of these kffl-57slx springs I now have some concerns of them being too high for my taste.. ideally id like just the SL spring. I do like the SSL but afraid that once the SSL settles it will be too low. reasons for concern: These are the only pics I could find on the SL X springs I have for the fronts and haven’t found anything else related on them this far.. I might fit the the ones I have up and see how it goes. But I think ride hight won’t really change much and probably ads more stiffness which I don’t necessarily want either. I will be using the Monroe shortened shocks and don’t know if the car above is still using the stock shocks. I’m unsure if that even makes a difference to the finished ride hight or not.
  6. Got this bad boy in the mail today. Cheering hopefully I get a chance to install this evening and hopefully it is as straight forward a swap as I’ve been envisioning. Looks like I’ll have to dig around for my set or torx bits and I’m guessing finding those will be the hardest part since I haven’t laid eyes on them since I moved out of home. Over the next few weeks I’ll be installing new Monroe GT lowered shocks with the second hand kffl-57sl x springs I bought months ago. Also will be dropping the diff cradle and re doing the 3 diff support bushes and also new oil filter and Castrol edge 5w40 full synthetic oil with earls inline filter. Once I have that out of the way I’ll look at servicing the zf with the genuine zf lifeguard fluid and maybe install a external cooler for it also.
  7. Cheers arronm. Is that from gjdrivelines website you showed? What are the prices like through them? I seen another guy here cut as soldered the factory hard line. I may look into this as well though with compression fittings. Might struggle with adaptors though to work with the -4an thread
  8. Things are looking up in actually receiving the steering wheel. Got a picture message of the tracking numbers stuck on the Aus post box it appears to be coming in. And the tracking details already show that it is at Whyalla norrie SA post office.
  9. Ok cheers. I looked at that one but got caught up in the crimped vs screw on fittings with the earls lines from said old thread. 5w40 edge it is. I must of had the royal purple 10w on my mind when I wrote. ebay is selling the edge in 6L for $72 delivered. Yes 6L bottles lol How much oil do these things hold?
  10. Also the car is just about due for a service. Will be using motorcraft oil filter and thinking 10w40 full synthetic Castrol edge titanium. Also looking into the turbo oil feed line. Looked at the earls ones on eBay but have recently found some conflicting reviews of their stuff. Though the threads I had seen was from at least 5 years ago so I’m guessing they’ve sorted their crap out now? Or do I just not worry and remove the factory filter and keep the hard line? What seems to be the go in that regard these days? cheers
  11. Well, pulled the trigger on the FPV steering wheel. He got back to me first. Says it will be posted tomorrow and will give me tracking details. Coming from Adelaide.
  12. I have a feeling our builds will be fairly similar! Lol Your turbs looks sharp. Them wheels finish it off very nicely. I’ve been looking at the boot lip spoiler myself too.. but I might try painting the 2 posts that mounts the spoiler to boot in black first and see how that turns out. Also did you do the wastegate port and flap yourself? There was another question I wanted to ask but will have to re read your thread over again to remember
  13. Took the wife and kids plus the newest addition to the family for a squirt up the hills to Cabramurra and back today in the Mum bus rad-rado And this little one I’m listing to whinging and howling at the moment... the newest addition: Rufus (was time for us to pull over and we both make some yellow snow)
  14. One that stood out a lot was a guy saying he knew blokes from v8 supercar crews and could get them to source caps for $10 each for him. Then told me he could have them made. Which I said I could make them myself also but they wouldn’t be genuine fpv items. Regarding the ghia wheel I’m waiting for a postage quote and hopefully on the way Monday. I reckon my old 4runner would outlast me lol basically a tractor. Only think I hated about it is the independent front suspension. Chews through tie rod ends as well as bending the idler arm. Lost count on how many times I’ve replaced those. Mostly from hitting hill climbs that I probably shouldn’t. I’ve threatened solid axle swap on the old girl numerous times using 80 series diffs and coil/link set up. But just don’t wheel it like that anymore. Not like I used to. So is just a beater to take me to work mostly and drag my boat or trailer to the tip. Tig welding is the go. Bit more effort but looks much prettier especially when you walk the cup and less blowing of holes My tig welder is just a cigweld 170 amp lift tig and won’t do aluminium. I also never learnt to do aluminium which I’m kicking myself over now. Would be cool to make up a nice forward facing plenum. Ive also pondered on making intercooler piping from stainless and doing it all in that lobster tail style bends but I feel like that style of bends will turbullate the air a fair bit as well as heat sink the pipes more than alluminium. Probably won’t affect anything enough for me on my car to really notice but in my mind I just much prefer a smother flow path. I’ll flirt with the idea more though when the time comes.
  15. I managed to offload the fpv wheel centre caps I bought to use in the silver argents that never came surprisingly quicker then expected. I copped a lot of criticism on Facebook groups regarding the price. But I got what I paid for them plus postage on top so happy days. So now I have that money back in the kitty I have turned my attention to something else I’ve wanted to rectify. The Standard skinny noodle steering wheel (I’ve been used to holding onto more girth since forever for some reason). I’ve noticed the difference big time between my GT to the turbo so I’ve been on the hunt for something fairly decent since I bought it. I have narrowed it down to between these two. Both similarly priced delivered. Ones bf doc and the other ones is bf Fairmont ghia. fpv ghia the ghia wheel is about $30 cheaper and looks in almost immaculate condition. Plus I kind of like the grey wood grain. I have only ever seen the ghia ones with a brown wood grain or silver. I am kind of torn between the two, but writing this now I’m leaning slightly to the ghia wheel. (I have changed my mind a few time between the two over the last week or two now. So I’ve tried a little haggling to see what kind of numbers I can achieve delivered which will determine which one I pull the trigger on this weekend).
  16. 100% I kind of set my self up. Maybe jinxed myself early expecting it to be a flop. It was too cheap. But a deal was a deal But anyways, What ever. I got my cash back in my account tonight which surprised me. Yeah this isn’t the first time it has happened to myself lol
  17. I was thinking “oh hear we go“ going to be farked around getting money back. I do have photos of his truck drivers license that has his full name address etc so maybe that was the difference from not ripping me off? Anyways, he has proved that it’s coming back to me so will leave it at that.
  18. Well this happened today.. the bloke actually seemed genuine bassed off our conversation and has transferred back my money plus a beer (fiver) which was good of him. Bit of a shame I missed this bargain and unfortunate for him to have gear stolen. Most would store in a better place but it is what it is. The hunt for bargains continue for the meantime. side note: I keep looking at my front brembos on the GT doing nothing at the moment..
  19. Wow what a journey this thread just took me through! Love your work mate! Keep it up
  20. My thoughts exactly. This twin cat side by side interests me also. I was going to go a 5” body 4” in/out ballistic cat but think the body size might make it hang a bit too low. That exhaust combo and 360ish is perfect in my mind So I bought a dump. $100 delivered. 4” xforce. Maybe it’s too good to be true? Don’t know. Will find out in the next week or so I suppose. After inspection if I actually receive it, I’ll get it cleaned up and maybe ceramic coated. If no good I have a base to make a jig from and just build one based off this. Mandatory pic of a unclean cold turbo in my workplaces car park tonight
  21. The 4” dump might be overkill? But I’ll be saving a fair bit there anyways if I build it myself. I reckon I can get that done for about $250-300 in stainless. And between the 800 and 1000hp plaza coolers there’s a difference of about $200 if I end up buying brand new. I could also make my own exhaust but probably single 3.5” for ease and have a suitable resonator and big muffler. I’m just afraid it’ll be too loud or droney or both. I might start researching mufflers and resonators. In the past I’ve looked at the stuff from Borla but can’t remember their prices off the top of my head at this stage but probably around the $150-200 each plus materials so maybe around the $600 mark and a couple days work
  22. I don’t plan on using the standard cat. Though I would be making my own stainless 4” dump pipe and use a 100cpi ballistic cat. The main concern for me is I’d like to keep this car relatively quiet. And keeping costs down as much as possible on a car that initially cost me 4g would be a bonus.
  23. I feel like I should keep the current turbo as is. Had a brand new core go in not all that long ago. It’s maybe 15000 km old. But yeah 350 is a ballpark figure I’d like. I don’t want to build the motor. But I’d be happy to do valve springs and pump gears/timing set At what sort of boost and power figures would warrant changing out the head bolts?
  24. After doing some scratching around on the web looking for intercoolers. I’ve come to the conclusion that I like the Plazmaman stuff over process West. Haven’t pulled the trigger on anything yet as I’m still hoping I can find something decent second hand for the right price up until I can definitely get in for a tune. Which will be some time away yet. So what I have my eyes on at the moment is the 1000hp intercooler over the 800hp. Doesn’t seam to be a big difference in price and bigger is better right? with that I had a look at their piping kits to suit. So 1000hp hot side and cold side to suit oem plenum. I like the looks of the forward facing plenum but for my $4000 car which just rolled over 170000km I don’t want to spend too much on it. After looking at the hot side pipes listed on their site I noticed the option of the .5 and .7 cover “upgrade” which got me thinking again. Is changing from .5 to .7 that beneficial? Should I be on the look out for a .7 cover and backing plate to potentially swap over? I do remember reading somewhere once upon a time that a bloke did just this and managed to make the same power as before but 2 or 3 psi less boost. ? I will probably make my own turboside intake/box, oil catch can and 4” dump pipe with a ballistic cat. Then possibly use the standard cat back exhaust as I like the quietness of it. Or maybe even concider the stainless 2.5” xforce for $850 odd I seen listed somewhere as it is apparently reasonably quiet anyway.
  25. Funny story about this one. After contemplating between silver argents and fg Xr6 lux packs I figured I’d go with the silver argents. Mainly because I could fit brembos behind them without issues and everyone and their dog seems to have dark argents. Initially I found a bloke on Facebook marketplace for a set of 5 genuine silver argents in ratty condition (guttered and stone chips galore but no buckles), no tyres and no centrecaps for $400 plus $25 each rim delivered. So $525 bank deposit to him, about $200 in Duplicolor paint, primer and clear plus another $250 in genuine fpv centrecaps while I waited. Organised a lathe to use to clean up the rash and also organised to be sent to wagga for sandblasting at Tasman grit with my brothers xy he just finished doing rust repairs on that he is fully rebuilding. After all of that a month passed and the bloke hasn’t even sent them. Ignored messages and excuses about finding the right size boxes to send them and blah blah blah I’m thibkibg I’ve been taken for a ride. I was speaking to Daniel (dans fpv parts) and he did recommend said bloke to me saying he is legit. But told him what was going on. Got him in the loop about the goings on with the wheels and my money. After about 8 weeks and help from dan I had my money back (pretty sure someone else offered said bloke more and sold them on me to someone able to pick them up there and then). I have to give credit to Dan. He is A top bloke and I would recommend getting any used parts through him to anyone. Helped me out a bunch here. I was sure I had lost $525 over these wheels. Anyways, after all that drama I sat down thinking what next, these wheels are a pain to find and then had a thought. A bloke I’ve played a bit of golf with here as well as went to tafe with for the same apprenticeship had bought a brand new fg gs with the 5.0 Supercharged motor a few years ago had put aftermarket wheels on it As soon as it was up for new tyres. So last week I send him a msg asking if he had the silver argents still and he said he did. Asked if I was after a set and I said I was considering silver argents for my turbo. He come back and said he doesn’t really know what they’re worth but $800. So I said $700 and he said done. And dropped them off to me the next day. WINNING lol
