320 rwkw sounds like plenty. Nice to drive and eats most competition. I kinda thought it was just the cat holding the exhaust back. I will be removing mine very soon and just fitting a straight pipe and leaving the two rear mufflers in. Fitted my battery box today and the auto sparky moves the battery tomorrow. Then the fun begins When I was fitting the battery box I found a big power amp in the boot. Looks like I have premium sound. Wondered why the stereo sounded so good

Definately In The Club But Not Sure Where?

Just a slight update on my power output. Driving home on a dry road in a straight line at just over 100k's and I thought I would give it a little burst, not slamming my foot down or anything and the tyres just started letting go 6 speed in auto perf mode with factory dunlops with good tread. Does anyone have a similar power level and what rwkw? -
What injectors, actuator, fuel pump and boost are you running?
-
Awesome. You will need your sunnies on when you pop the hood I will keep you posted on my results. It really looks like the right way to go. I have an excellent tuner that looks after me so it's all good

Sold!! I have organized a sparkie to supply and fit the battery cable for $140 mates rates (the good stuff). All I have to do us fit the box which I get from Supercheap on Monday for $30. Then I will do the piping which will involve relocating the throttle body to a pipe I will make which heads for the old air intake position and I will make an intake similar to yours. It was the battery relocation to the boot that made it all possible, cheers for that (although my wife is not impressed )

Well, it sounds like I'll have to do something about the cat What if I just remove it and weld a piece of pipe in? I don't think there are any rules governing that yet -
Very nice job mate. I can see the benefits of what you've done there. Do you mind me asking how much the plenum was? I can weld aluminium myself, so you have got me thinking

I have a cold air intake I will be selling if you are interested. I used it for about a week and it was too noisy for me and I decided I like the standard air intake element better because it's finer. PM me if you are interested. This is it on my car. I can give you a good price. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q5/ripTide99/MyEngineMods.jpg The setup in that pic gave me about the same power you are looking for (with the tune). I was impressed with the HDi GT2 intercooler for the money.

Noted. I will keep that in mind. Check out the description next to the red plenum pic http://autospeed.com/cms/title_XR6-Turbo-Guide-Part-Three/A_2794/article.html. They make good power on the standard exhaust. I will see how it goes before upgrading it and put it on a calibrated dyno when I get a chance and put up a power figure in my sig -
What 1/4 Mile Times Do You Get On Standard Injectors?
riptide replied to riptide's topic in Track & Strip Racing
I would be happy to get into the 11's. I'm wondering if I should have gone for the 42lb injectors. No problem with the idle or anything after the voltage offsets were accounted for but I just have more than enough power and the tune comes onto boost like a wild animal I will probably only use the power at the drags (and maybe the odd ss) so it is overkill really. Hey, and nobody told me how much work is involved changing the actuator and porting the wastegate. I wish someone had told me to remove the 4 turbo mount studs and replace them with bolts to make life easier. -
You need to have a power target. What gearbox do you have? I wouldn't do the flapper mod straight away unless I was going to bigger injectors and more than about 10lb boost. It's a lot more work than I thought it would be. I have done the flapper mod now but only to stop overboost at around 16psi with my new mods and I had the whole turbo and manifold out to do the actuator anyway. It was happy at about 270rwkw with the standard wastegate but was just starting to let some boost out because the standard actuator spring couldn't hold it in. If you are thinking of removing the cat just be aware that people have said here in the forums that you may need a bigger actuator to hold the boost once you drop the exhaust pressure (lots of work). The best value for money is a good tune imo but free up your air intake first.

riptide replied to riptide's topic in High Power Builds (300+ Club)
Yeah, standard cat. My actuator should handle cat removal but I will wait and see if I need to. I will post my time in my sig after next friday's drags. The boost comes on plenty savage but there are no roads around here where I can keep my foot in it at speed without the tyres frying up -

Yeah, I thought about it but I would have to get the car certed if I did that. Thanks for the suggestion though. I think I solved my other issue, I just leave the TC off (and the DSC which turns off at the same time, apparently) and it doesn't seem to play up. -
I have just upgraded my rwkw and have had some vicious thuds in my back wheels like they are dropping into pot-holes and grabbing. It feels like the diff or axles are going to snap as it always happens on boost (estimate about 350rwkw). Is that the brakes grabbing violently for a split second from DSC? I have had it happen a couple of times when I was running about 270rwkw coming out of a corner with the wheels spinning and since the upgrade in a straight line breaking traction. I am worried something is going to break

I have fitted some new gear and had a tune but don't know my power output because the dyno is not calibrated yet so maybe you guys can help me work it out I was putting out around 270rwkw with standard injectors and doing 12.8s at the drags. BF Mk2 2007 sedan ZF 6speed New mods are: 60lb Dekas Walbro 255l/h high pressure pump 12.7psi actuator 82'c Thermostat Enlarged port waste-gate Process west crossover pipe Custom pipe from HDi intercooler to throttle body (made myself from aluminium) Cut away front, lower part of air intake box Tuned to 16psi peaking at 18 Standard exhaust I find the wheels will light up in second by planting my foot almost anywhere in the rev range on all road surfaces and on some sealed surfaces in third. It's pretty savage compared to before. I will post some times after next weeks drags. Traction could be an problem now. One issue I'm getting that I didn't get before is the 'abs' light seems to come on for an instant occasionally and there seem to be stabs of power loss (usually as I break traction). Not sure what it is yet but I'm looking into it. I'm guessing plenty of XR6T owners have had this issue before.

Yes, the green policy makers have a lot to answer for. We have 29 dead miners because we couldn't open cast mine. I hope they appreciate the handful of tree snails they saved. They could just move the trees to where they have been as they go like some other operations overseas. Or the sustainable helicopter beach tree logging they stopped on the west coast. The tax payer fronted with a multimillion dollar compensation package which the loggers used to clear fell a privately owned adjoining block which was bigger. We have signed up to an emissions trading scheme here in New Zealand and prices are rocketing. 98ron is currently $227.9L and rising. Up 10c from a week ago. The cost of living in general is also up on food and power etc. NOBODY wanted the carbon tax but we have mmp (similar to the way the current Australian minority government is functioning) so career politicians can keep themselves in a job by trading the policies they were voted in on. Democracy at it's finest!

Hi silverjet, I don't know what the BA exhaust system is like but on the BF it seems fine standard for plenty of rwkw. You can do some moderately priced mods for good power gains. For the air intake I cut the lower part of my airbox out at the front and fitted a folded piece of aluminium over it to stop the warm air from the engine bay getting sucked in and just let the cold air from under the headlight in (the snorkel has been removed because of the HDi intercooler). Below are some ideas on where I think might be a good place to start and an approximate guess on rwkw, I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong 260rwkw: Standard injectors, air intake mod and a good tune. 300rwkw+: 42lb injectors, air intake mod, actuator, fuel pump upgrade and a good tune. Lunch the engine and/or transmission on standard pre 06/06: 60lb injectors, air intake mod, actuator, fuel pump upgrade and a good tune. A good intercooler with not much pressure drop seems to be a very popular addition. Removing or upgrading the cat also seems popular. I had trouble doing burnouts until I freed up the intake and got a 'good' tune I did have an AutotecnicA CAI but took it out and did the mod mentioned above to the airbox. I will try swapping it back on the dyno to see if there is any difference in power (I couldn't feel much if any). What I didn't like about the AutotecnicA CAI was that I could see through the pod filter, so I figured the dust must be able to get through too.

Waiting for my new parts to arrive. Should be here any day now 60lb injectors, actuator, fuel pump and cool running thermostat and a Van Nes tune. My tyres won't know what hit em -

Change of plan. 60lb Dekas, fuel pump and bigger actuator and a re-tune....but that's it!!! oh, and a new intake pipe and a process west crossover pipe.....and that's really it!! Are second hand injectors ok? 12.4 on stockies....impressive -
What 1/4 Mile Times Do You Get On Standard Injectors?
riptide replied to riptide's topic in Track & Strip Racing
Cheers for the quick answer. They (the 42lb Bosch green tops) sound like exactly what I'm after. Do I need to upgrade anything else like the fuel pump or just go for a re-tune? Also can you give me an idea of the maximum boost setting to save my tuner some time? Thanks -

Appreciate the feedback. Looks like injectors it is So what injector options/sizes am I looking at for good gains without having to upgrade anything else? I just don't want it to grow arms and legs at this stage. I also do a lot of slow driving in traffic. -
What 1/4 Mile Times Do You Get On Standard Injectors?

I went to the drags last night for the first time ever and was getting 12.8s (once I turned the aircon off...DOHH!!)in my XR6T BF Mk2 6 speed auto 2007 sedan. It has a HDi intercooler and a tune and that's it. Picked up 78RWKW from the tune from Van Nes Performance. I plan to install a rising rate fuel regulator and maybe a plenum and under battery cold air intake. Just wondering what performance other people are getting on the standard injectors and what mods have been done? I was flattening out a bit after half way and crossing the line at 175.35kmh -
N/A '06 BF's spare wheel WON'T fit turbo '06 BF because it hits on the brakes... Turbo '06 BF spare WILL fit turbo '07 Mk2 BF I know this because my mate swapped his spares to get the better tread when he sold his N/A... DOH!!! Not sure if the month of the car makes a difference... Hope that helps
