  1. It would be nice if someone knew why. Bought my car in October 2010 - did not show symptoms till December. Have almost put on 10K since then. Still does it when cold. I run Caltex 98. Only 98 available for a 150 KM.

I've just put 10,000 Km on one. I assume you have done the same

I like that comment " collectible " Wonder if the ex cop cars fit that category now. Probably only a couple of hundred built and RWD fords stopping in 2 years. Might keep mine stock and sale-able . Say 10 years . Just an idea

    Dilemma

Hay, I'm with F1PERFORMANCE . Easily the best value for money.
  5. At least it looks like it should go fast. The other looks like something my 80 year old grandmother would drive to Woolies
  6. UGLY. I can think of 850,000 reasons not to buy one. Except Powered by a V12 engine with 485kW of power the new FF can launch from a standstill to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds on the way to a top speed of 335km/h. Makes my XR6T look like a Holden !!!!!
  7. Still illegal if you are under 21. Hopefully by then you have some idea of the value of money. And a bit of respect for your car
  8. Read an article a few years ago about accidents and injury etc. As you all know if you are 17-24 you have a lot of accidents etc. What age group is the most dangerous PER KM DRIVEN ? It is not the 17- 24 age group. Try 75 up. How many times have you heard of : a little old lady running over her husband because she can not turn her head or use her mirrors A old timer who drives through a shop because they don't know the accelerator from the brake another who takes out an acquaintance of mine because she can not see 10 motor bikes in a 80 zone all with lights on or sits on 75K in a 100K zone frustrating other drivers to the point of danger. Yes, the kids have more accidents - there are more of them and they spend more time on the road. But they are not the most dangerous age group. Easy revenue.

    Edit.

Great response. Are you able to give me more info on O2 Gauges - use, fitting etc. I have a FG. I believe a lot of the faults with the BA-BF models have been addressed. Thanks Paul

    Edit.

Seems to me you might have met a rare honest tuner. Told you the truth and did not try to sell you the world just because you want a XR6 TURBO " Better Than The Rest " No one has yet answered my query " WHY"

    Edit.

Excuse my ignorance, but I find this thread fascinating. Why are they so different. Engines designed and built in the 2000's are far better than 1960's. If I got 100,000 miles out of my 64 Fairmont I thought I had done well. Not much better in 78. Had to rebuild my 302 after 60,000 miles ( 100,000 KM ) Now I expect double to triple that ( 200,000 - 300,000) Km out of any vehicle. My XL Fairmont did not use oil and had no rattles at 270,000 KM. But all of a sudden Ford has gone back to the sixties. Slapped on a turbo and tolerances are any one's guess. This is a serious question - Why do engines vary to the extent reported in all these posts. I would have thought that a standard engine built to todays tolerances and reliability would all react the same to a tune. Obviously I am wrong - but why. Thanks all
  16. By the way - the Cops serviced the car every 10,000 K. Better than Ford recommended. Ford recommendations are talked about elsewhere
  17. Not a problem. Paid $31,990 form a dealer. Had been trying to sell my old BF MK2 XR6 privately but did not get any nibbles. Decided I had to trade if it was going to happen. Very happy with the car. The brakes alone are worth it. Build date is Oct 2009 . Tyres were new and rego till 30th June 2011. Full service history and balance of new car warranty. Have to say that the detailing by the dealer was very ordinary. Have since found out that it was auctioned through 'manheimfowles' for 27/28K . Guess the dealers have to make a quid too - I'm happy with that. The body is dead straight, only a couple of stone chips and a scratch on the roof from the lights, and 4 screw holes with ordinary repair for the lights.
  18. Hay yes, I've got one. Sounds like a good idea for a new thread.

Hi, Does it make any difference if this is done on a cold - warm - or hot motor.? Or does the computer sort it all out in the 5-10 minutes. Thanks
  21. Found this after a quick search on the web. http://www.bsmsport.com.au/ecommerce/?categoryID=9 Don't know if this is good or bad, but I found it interesting
  22. Age is the killer. Costs me more to insure a 1990 Toyota Seca for $2,500 than my 2009 FG XR6T for $39,000. My 18 year old son drives the Seca. He has Zero at fault accidents and Zero fines. But is young. I have 2 nominated drivers for the Turbo. My wife is 46 , I am 56. Nice to have some benefits from all those Birthdays
  23. I will probably receive a lot of flack for this. A cheap option - buy an FG " Chaser" - Get the Brakes etc. Spend a grand on a tune and you have a " Typhoon" You do not get the nice seats or sound but you get a fast car that can stop
  24. 2 weeks ago I hired a FG XR6 N/A . Clocked up 1,500 Km with 5,000 km on the clock when hired. I found the brakes soft and undefined. They worked well with no vibration but left me without confidence. I own a ex FG chaser with Brembo 4 / PBR. The brakes are sensational. Smooth with well defined progression. At legal speeds they are so much better than standard it is a joke. You want better brakes , 6 by 4 Brembo's are a bit over board. 4/PBRr's are fine. Standard on Typhoons and GT's
