Hey mate. My old man had this problem recently, and we knew this was the cause. (owns a worked BA xr6t) Basically the rear end was sitting on the bump stops due to the rear springs sagging SO MUCH. They were absolutely f*cked.. but the fronts are still alright. With 5-10mm clearance, there mayaswell not be any at all. From a standstill, taking off fast, when the rears spin the rear end generally sags. If there isn't enough bumpstop clearence it'll hit the bump stops and start bouncing. Do this enough and it can destroy a rearend very quickly (or atleast stress it the f*ck out). When driving normally, accelerating normally or on boost, it's exactly the same thing. No clearance means the rear end is riding on the bump stops. Boost it, rear end sinks, and it hits again and again and again causing mass shuddering as you're accelerating. I noticed that accelerating smoothly didnt do this as it didnt cause the rear end to push down as hard I guess. I'm betting that you are having the exact same problem in regards to the shuddering when taking off, and accelerating. To fix this, all you need to do is change the rear springs. This will make it sit higher, and it wont hit the bump stops everytime you dump it or accelerate hard. MAKE SURE YOU TELL THE DEALER TO LOOK AT THE BUMPSTOPS AND EXPLAIN HOW THIS CAN HAPPEN. What springs are you running? Is your car sitting on the bump stops? Springs sagged to the max? IF so, it can cause MAJOR shuddering accelerating in most circumstances. On boost its alot worse. Can also cause VERY bad axel tramp etc.

What I really don't like about this, is that it gives SOLID figures for the first two.. and then with the E85 it has 350+ (PLUS) kw@w. Why the PLUS (+) if the other two are actual solid figures? Did they actually test it, or is this just another 'theoretical' figure? I hate comparisons used in car magazines. Prefer to test and tune on the dyno myself.

18 years old .. 200+rwkw car .. next to no experience ?? dont do it. I was lucky enough to be sitting behind some kid on red Ps in a VS commo yesterday going through roundabouts in the wet. yeh .. going sideways is great fun.. but you can really tell the inexperience when you see it first hand. the kid almost went sideways into a car because he couldnt correct fast enough. listen to everyone elses advice. buy a less powerful car.. do some skidpan days, track days, driving courses, and drive a sh*t load on the road in all conditions. last thing "I" want is to be collected by some wank who thinks its cool to take his car sideways, yet has absolutely NO idea what he's doing.

Are you talking standard? standard; It's .. 'quick' .. but I only enjoyed it giving its ALL in that state. at half throttle theres not much point. however depnding on how your car is tuned, they can be set at 95% throttle position when your foot is halfway down. certainly gives a different feeling for a different style of driving. (I might have misread your post)

Soundwave has still had a better line up both last year and this year imo. I'll probably go to soundwave instead of big day out .. but it's a f*cking hard decision. either way im gonna miss bands id love to see. Muse & Karnivool for me

id also like to see pics of different bonnets on xr's. I think MrTurbo's had 2 vents near the top? .. looked quite nice from what I recall

Just think.. more revenue spent on driver education = hoons aren't the main concern, and lack of driver education is now the main cause of deaths. Public opinion changes (people now think that with more driver education, fatalities will be reduced..which they will), hence less revenue is raised for big full blown operations like hooning and defecting modified cars. This post makes no sense. The whole idea of defecting a vehicle is that it is UNSAFE. That is why they call a vehicle UNROADWORTHY. Police do NOT target rusty sh*t heaps. If they were to 'crack down' on them, they would meerely be doing their job. However, the majority of defects that I have had, and with every other person with a modified vehicle that I've spoken to, is that they are STUPID, UNJUST, and 99% of the time the vehicle that is defect is NOT AS UNSAFE as any other 'standard' car out on the road. Your point is invalid.

The public hear about "hoon crackdowns" and "defect blitzes" .. yet the general public dont see police and go "thank god they defected that car because its so low" or "thank god they defected that car for its oversized wheels." Do you honestly think your avereage citizen goes "wow .. I've seen less low cars around lately.. thank god the police are stamping out this hoon problem" It's the POLICE doing this. Officers don't care about votes for government. They don't go "yeh I'll defect this car because it'll get the PM more votes" .. so what's their reasoning? Again.. you have laid down a completely invalid point. Unless of course, you believe that police are trained to target modified vehicles for the better of the government.

You have taken it completely out of context. That is like saying, if an officer says "you must obey the giveway sign", and you don't want to, will you just drive through it anyway? Let me put it back in context for you. If I had many collegues who were sitting on their arse doing nothing, and my boss comes up to me.. targets ME when I'm snowed under with work, acts like an arsehole and tells me I've gotta get something done in a few hours when I can't POSSIBLY do it, and he WONT go to any of my other collegues who are more than capable of doing the same thing, YES, I'd not only walk out, but I'd start looking for another job that day. Again.. I don't pay my taxes to be targeted. And I highly doubt police are "instructed to target modified vehicles." .. do you agree? Yet they do.. so this issue really isn't so simple. Totally agree! However there is a line at which this is drawn, and it's called officer discretion. An officer may not have a choice to partake in this opperation.. however they DO have the choice to choose which car they're going to defect/what they're going to defect/and how their going to go about it (reasoning for defects). Hey I'm all for taking 'dangerous' cars off the road. Rust buckets. Cars with springs that are CUT (not just 'too low'). Cars which may be of legal decibel limit, however are emitting so much smoke you'd think its a steam train. As I said.. theres this thing called discretion. It's supposed to be used in the interest of public safety, not government gain or personal satisfaction. And "Trough Lolly's" story is a PERFECT example of this. I don't pay my taxes to be targeted for no reason by victorias joke of a law enforcement. So yes.. I will blame them.. for doing what they AREN'T paid to do.

haha yeh im abit like that I had a read, and I did find studies were 'interesting.' Some completely valid points were raised in there, and great information for people who don't know much about this field. However, I just really don't agree with it as being more of a problem, (or being more dangerous), than taking the huge plunge to get out of bed everyday.
