Peter from APS, you've referenced 'always the 6-speed' what six-speed would that be? is there a compatable six speed box out there that could handle the torque a little better then the 5? Also in regards to the BP Ultimate scenario, I was talking to Bill & Kel when I had my uni-chip tuned at CNJ in brisbane and they recommended that I only use BP Ultimate in my car as that was thier fuel of choice, due to gauranteed 98 octane rating? I've run my uni-chip and Ultimate for over 12 months with no problems Cheers, Matt
  2. Most panel beaters/paint shops use a bumper replacement service, (well most that I know of) where they order a 2nd hand bumper which has been re-conditioned and good as new, they take yours off send it back to the bumper mod who repair it for the next poor bugger to scracth thier car. then it's just a prime and paint.
  3. If you got more then 15hp with any form of filter replacement it was worth it. do you have a picture of what the airbox looks like now and where you've pumped the cold air duct?
  4. Yes Pete from APS has made a good point. power outputs can be very different on auto and manuals... especially at the wheels due to drive ratios being completely different between the two cars. also the old 3rd and 4th gear switches can confuses the who-har out of anyone. and then theres shootout & non-shootout mode.. right down to the ramp rate adjusters on the dyno... I've seen 200kw atw cars make 120kw atw due to poorly adjusted RR's on dynos at places like autosalon and stuff. that's why it's good to use shootout modes on dyno-dynamics dynos cause it apperently is the same across the board to like 95% accuracy or within 4-5kw. /end speil
  5. I dunno, I reckon gettin a K&N panel filter and making up a cold air intake like the aps job would be much more effective. I've seen the XR8 Pod filters and I don't think they look all that... I reckon you'd have better luck removing the air box and filter and fitting one of those Blitz SUS stainless steel filters. I hear there good for a 15hp gain.. although they filter f*ck all. just my two cents worth
  6. Just wondering as I've heard a few different stories that some people use them some people don't on thier T's so just wondering if it's something I should put on my wish list or not. keeping in mind I don't have any immediate plans to modify it, that said I had one on my wrx since day one. so what do ya's think??? Cheers, Matt

Matt not sure where you got your info but the exede does not use an external boost controller on the xr6 turbo. sorry I must have been misinformed. that being the case defainetly play the feild, find the best value for your $$$ how much was your XEDE chip iaschmidt?

Speaking from someone who has had ample experience with uni-chip if I were to buy one I would be going back to APS again. CNJ at springwood (as your in QLD) would be where I would be shopping. Talk to Bill n Kel, they are not the most socially inclined people but they can tune the sh*ttiness out of a commondore (and that's saying something) the uni-chip is also a better product as it has no need for a external boost controller, which the xede does, which equates to more $$$ cheers, Matt
  9. I would follow the line from the BOV through to the manifold, then look for a auxiliry vacumm line and plumb that. that's what most recommend for wrx's and stuff. cheers, Matt
  10. it's pretty cheeky those bastards at FoMoCo stuck the sucka on.. I would go the momo option, but I think that the big long chrome shaft on it just looks sh*t. I prefer the knob straight to the gear boot. You could have tried the ol hair dryer on the glue, it seems to work well on stickers
  11. does it? I had better put my reading glasses on and try again my apologies then I retract my statement
  12. Peter thanks for your quick and detailed reply, it's definately reassuring and characteristic of the APS profile. I understand completely the objective tact that APS is taking in regards to offering the phase I, II, III & IV 'kits' but my concerns or more queries would be if I bought a phase II kit and later decided I wanted a phase III what options would I have, I.e would it be possible to buy just the parts that differentiates the 2 kits. none the less the It would be good if APS's website reflected the options in that respect. cheers, Matt
  13. Peter from APS, a little off topic and if it's been answered before can you tell me why APS have moved to not go with individual componentry sales on the XR6 Turbo parts? or is this a move across the board with all it's performance parts? Cheers, Matt
  14. just a question for peter from APS, do the XR6-t unichips use the same boost mappings/controller like the traditional type-a chips the wrx's use? or can we use aftermarket boost controllers for mapping boost? cheers, Matt
  15. I'm glad the momo ones use different methods of securing, cause the standard subaru one was just as f*cking hard to remove as I'll be the standard ford one is, when I examined the thread on the subie it had some dryed glue or something in the threads.. so it wouldn't suprise me if you gotta break the glue before they come off. good luck, let me know how you go cause I'll be adding my momo spere to the t when I get it cheers, Matt
  16. There is another TnT on Saturday this weekend too (17/01/2004) which will apperently be much bigger I will be going for a gander and to take piccies, hope to see any QLD members there! Cheers
  17. We (wrx owners) have had the problem with our wrx's for years... I've seen some stock with as low as 8psi boost up to as high as 20psi boost all STANDARD... of course when asked to comment subaru stated it was cause all components were built on a assembly line different grades of plastics, pipings, and sometimes contaimenents would effect the dynamics of the car once it was complete ready for resale. as always these scape-goat style answers warrant the company from having to repair/rebuild/upgrade cars when they are low down on the power. probably the only solution would be to mod that sucka...
  18. I'm assuming that's supposed to be $1900 per annum? don't shannons have conditions like, can't do more the 200km's a week and sh*t?
  19. if any ford dealer ever did that to me I'd go by a Expensive Daewoo out of principle then write several letters to Ford Motor Corp. definately not a cool thing to do, even if the other customer offers more money!
  20. blkxr6t who are you with and where you located?

nah when I get my T it's defainately getting debadged.. the only badges left on will be the blue oval baby... and in my opinion that's all them loin cub poofs need to see when I'm screaming in front
  22. Thanks for all the feedback guys, looks like a pretty landside victory on fords behalf. ExAreSix - my deepest sympathy for your problems, I know what it's like to have a car you can't drive and problems that the 'experts' cannot fix. hope it all sorts itself out
  23. Well I know a few of you have had XR6 turbos since they first rolled off the factory floor early last year and I'm just wondering how thier durability is. as my old man as much of a ford man as he is said the fords always got squeeky and rattley after they put on a few miles.. so yeah, hows yours holding up... as I plan on putting a hell of a lot of doof in mine and don't want it falling apart at the seams hehehe Cheers, Matt
  24. will this just make it sporty sounding or actually do something for performance, as I was considering putting the APS system on my car?
  25. Been cuirious about those pollen filters, are they worth the $$ ?? I'm not a big air-con (HP thief) fan.. but in these 35 degree days it's been needing in a BAD way... I dropped into my k-mart and couldn't find that stuff, which store did you get it from DallasQLD?
