Head On Collisions

Hi all,

After spending an afternoon browsing the forum when I should have been working (Lucky the boss is still on holidays ....) I thought I would sign off with something that gives us all a stiff *ahem* neck. ;)

Only wanting to respect another driver in what we all agree are awsome rides - how can we know when the BA-XR6 approaching us is a Turbo and rasie a salute? Nothing against 8's and N/A's but I am forever turning my head to check for the twin exhaust or the badges and half the time see the other XR staring over their own shoulder at me!

Anyone else find themselves doing this or am I just to excited?

One thing I can pick from the front-on view of a T-Driver is the smile

Anyone have any ideas/thoughts on this ?

Cheers!

P.S. From standard what is the first logical step in mods ?? I have no idea and am looking at doing the exhaust and then a BOV ? (Should you chip for that?) Please go easy - I know nuffink (much) ! :ta:

8's are easy, bulge in bonnet, Turbo is noticeable by Intercooler.

Now you should contact APS/Chiptorque or some aftermarket tuner. Forget exhaust, BOV, go the boost/power upgrade.

I got sick of ppl asking so its on the plates, they still ask.

I look for the intercooler at the front. Badge from the rear.

I wave regardless whenever I get a chance.

Is Ford still not painting the Mirrors on the N/As?

The first batch of N/As had colour coded mirrors, then they left them black and only the Turbos got colour coded mirrors... Or so I remember reading on the Ford site months ago.

But I don't see many N/As with black mirrors... They all seem to be colour coded?

The Turbo utes have dual exhausts like the XR8s...

And not all Turbos have the badge on the rear... :hrmm:

Ah, why not just wave at all XR's! We're all part of a special group of drivers and all are here on the forum, so why not?

You can still tell though.

If the Falcon Badge and XR6 badge is in line (even height), it is a N/A.

If the XR6 Badge is a bit higher than the Falcon badge, it is a de-badged turbo. Out of the one's I've been able to verify by checking for a intercooler, I've had a 100% success rate :D

Yeh, I wave at all XRs and FPVs. :sleepystuff: Don't worry about 6 or 8, they're all good!

It was posted here that n/a XR6 were to have plain mirrors but like you I have yet to see any evidence of this. My local dealer has several new n/as and they all have colour coded mirrors.
