The manual XR (turbo or NA) has 5 modes of operation (auto 3), from full economy to full performance. The computer automatically switches between all of these modes depending on your driving. I have had instances where I am stuck in peak hour but then I see a break, hit to go pedal and it goes but not as well as I think it should. 3000k service today and I ask the question. Why can't I have the performance mode at all times, what is the downside. Answer - the car is geared to save petrol and that's about it. Can I have full performance mode all the time. No worries and no charge. Hey presto, a little more performance - free. The other trick - Who would like a digital speedo at no cost? It's called Police mode. It turns your odometer into a digital speedo and works a treat. You just need to ask. The only think I can't work out at the moment having picked the car up today is the trip functions seem to have gone. I only have range available. When I hit the trip function button it holds a static speedo time. More investigation necessary. Now I suppose you will want a photo. I will borrow a camera and post a pic. Edge

I was just interested as I have had mine since the new year and still haven't seen 1 on the roads. Apart for Dallas_QLD who lives across the road... Still not too maany of them around...And for those who are still waiting...It's worth the wait...Time to drive home now....

Count me in. I call it my magic window. Walk up, hit the button and down the windows goes. Had the whole service dept out to look at it as they hadn't seen it before. It's great for a sunny but no so good in the rain... Goes in to get fixed next week...

We hear lots of southern people who have XR6T's. How many of us live in Brisbane and own one of these. I have one, Dallas QLD picks one up today :roll: . I am interested how many on this site have an XR6T and live in Brisbane??

The road up to Mt Tambourine in QLD is a good run, if you don't get stuck behind anybody. Having driven it a couple of times I can recomend. On another subject, I also have the magic drivers window. Unlock the car an the drivers windows goes down. Great for QLD but bad in the rain. If you use the key in the door, it doesn't happen... :alien:

Having driven 8's for years I don't think I would go back. This may be just as quick as the 8 but way more fun. You FEEL the power when the turbo comes on song....

QLD has arrived...

No VCR's, No DVD and if you wanted petrol (only super) or smokes after 6pm there where only one or two places to go.. Seat belts only existed in some cars, cops could only pull you over for drink driving for another reason (like lights out etc), 3 speed auto and 4 speed manual the norm. But no wars, no Iraq issues, the world was a lot more at peace. No aids, happy people, a carefree lifestyle. For all the improvements in todays society, I wish my kids could have grown up when I did. It wasn't as comfortable as life today but it sure was free and easy..........

And now for the standard scuff plates and all for, if I remember $28 and they look the part....

If anything a small metallic "t" like the XR6 might be a nice addition ...

Can I also add, that as good as that ride was, NOTHING beats being in the drivers seat of this car. I have had my car now for nearly a month, and at times it still scares me with the shot of power. And when your in control....ahhhhh...life is good...

Just to add some useless information, I have found the ever present drinkholder to be excellent place to store the sunnies. Put in the correct way they don't move, are cool to put on and very easy to get to...

Talking about speed... Is it just me or does anybody else think the speedo is incorrect? I will travel around the speed limit (as most people do) and have in other cars been at the same speed as others. Now I seem to be left behind. I know I feel like I am driving about 3kmph as the car is so stable with heaps of power, but I just feel like I am going slower than the rest. I would be interested in any comments (from those few law abiding people)..

If I could afford but one option this would be it. Cranked it up this morning (as loud as an old guy like me will allow myself) and with the mirrors moving and the crisp clear sound filling the cabin, I was amazed at how good it is. For $900 you get the goods. Some will say that they need to upgrade it as the bass is not good enough. My thoughts are that the Premium system will make 96.73% of XR6T owners very happy they made the investment. Go the Premium sound.

Having just had my car serviced and was loaned an XR6 with basic audio, hoping back into the XR6T with premium sound was just a world of difference. Cound quality, functionality, clarity of the screen and the colour screen is a must have. I would wait..

I have just had some news. The place where I have the car serviced belived that the plastic clips will just keep melting, so they have sourced some metal clips and have replaced my plastic ones with these. I am told (not having seen the car yet) that they look much better, will not melt and will do the job the clips need to do...

My understanding is that the immobiliser stops fuel, power, ignition etc unless the proper key etc is put into place. I have been told that it would take an experienced mechanic a day and a laptop computer to break the system in the new BA. So how can one steal one of these? Either get a key or a tow truck..

Same thing on mine. However when I opened the bonnet the clip had melted off and was hanging by a thread of plastic. Hence the smell of burning plastic when the car stops. The front clip looks ok. It's just the back one near the turbo. It goes in tomorrow to be replaced. They are also replacing the cover that it melted onto. It's good to know that it's just not my car with the issue.

As for running in the car, I was told to just drive the car. But, I will drive the car without bouncing it off the rev limiter, vary the RPM as much as possible, keep it below about 4500rpm. Once the 3000km service has been done, I figure it's good to use the engine to it's capabilities... As far as petrol is concerned, yes you can run standard unleaded, but with a loss of power (as mentioned). 95 RON or above is recomended, and I would personally stick to Shell or BP. I think you pay for what you get. And this will help to keep the engine clean as well as giving more performance.

I think the question that begs to be answered is... "Is the 8 worth the extra $6300 on top of the turbo??" Different engine and gearbox, same everything else. Extra power but extra weight....$6300 is not a small price difference...

No worries here. Maybe a little less power, but not enough to really worry. I am looking forward to a cold and moist night though....

btw...the colour just gets better and better. It has so many different shades depending on the light. Some days it's one colour and others another. A friend of mine said and I like this quote "the colour is so deep you could swim in it". And in the sun it just almost sparkles. It has been washed and polished with Meguires Gold class gear which just took the dealers polish another couple of steps further. Go the phantom...

Would it be possible for somebody in the know to post information about a Tickford/XR club in each state? I believe there are a number of people in this forum that would like to join a club in their state but don't know where to start. Either a web site or contact mail would be great. I would be interested in a QLD contact, but am sure the other users in other states could benifit from this information.
