Thanks all. Appreciate the info..What would I do without having this forum to ask... Have we come to a conclusion of the placement of the rear speakers. Who has a Turbo with Premium sound who can look??

Time for 2 gumbie questions - 1. You mention 4 splits as far as the speakers are concerned. Would I assume that means I speaker enclosure at each of the four courners but 2 speakers in each. 2. People keep mentioning a Ford with VCT in the name. Not having been (but am now) a ford fan I would mind knowing what VCT is. Thanks

I have been driving a VSII Clubsport for the past 5 years and love it, as well as company cars before then. I love having the power and sound of a V8 and believed I was here to stay on the V8's (work gives me a petrol card). However, I have always wanted a turbo, but they were always too small, made the wrong sounds and just seemed too tinny. I drove the new clubsport, VX SS, and a number of other machines to find THE car. I am a car nut and have been for years, so I want to know that my purchase will be good. Heard rumours of this (XR6T) and thought it's worth a look. Then I drove the XR6 in standard form and was very impressed. It was a great drive and quick (and the turbo is 30 - 40 % more powerfull). Then researched the turbo, and the worst thing I could find said about it is the foot rest does not exist. Sign me up...I have probably read 30 articles on the car on the web and they are all good. I still haven't driven the thing, so I hope it's good. Only a week or so to go now....Then I can say what I think.

Had thought about the Momo. You think it's worth the extra bucks? Looks the same as the standard wheel. Also, I am interested. I am also going Phantom and was wondering the colour of the Momo you went with and if it looks the part?

I had a phone call this morning from my friendly Ford dealer, and he said I have some good news and some bad. Bad news - Can't supply your car with the sports steering wheel (ordered a week ago) Good news - The XR6T will arrive before Christmas. This car was ordered on 12th November (expected delivery late Feb) and my order is due to arrive in a week or two. It's been built, just needs to get shipped and other bits added etc and then it's mine.. So I just wanted to give you all a little hope that your wishes can come true. If you hope and wish for Santa to grant you a wish, it may come true. It looks like it will for me, and hopefully this wait time can be reduced for some... (you can probably guess I have kids)

Don't you just love this conversation. A couple of years ago, performance figures like 240+ Kw was unheard of in the sub $50k. All that was talked about was fuel economy etc.. Now we have the need for speed and performance. I love this age of technology. Bring on the 350kw under $50k (in years to come).. Life is great....(if I EVER get my car)

May be a silly comment but... Thanks for the pics of the back seat. I have 3 kids and I needed to show my wife (minister for financial decisions) the room in the back and what it looked like. It passed (too bad if it didn't)

Rumour has it ( and it's just rumour) that the car has between 250 and 260kw on tap. Why do they say 240? How many XR8's do you think would be sold if for 5k or so less you could get the same power. So they have marked down the kw of the car to sell the XR8. What's 10-20kw between friends. And then come the mods... We all know this is a great car, and if mine EVER arrives, I have a mate with a dyno and will see what lerks under that bonet...

Do you like the colour?? Is it all/what you expected?? I have ordered the same colour and am a little unsure (I own a cherry black clubsport now). I am very interested in an owners opinion....

Thanks for the pic MrSparkle. Just what I needed to remind me why I wanted to spend $700 on a wheel. I just couldn't remember. I could remember that it felt great, but couldn't remember the look... I will order one of these. It will cost $3 a month on the lease payment for something that I will get to use and see everyday. Looks great and feels great. So I will join ExAreSix and buy one of these, if anything just to be a little different (and the chrome will match nicely with the manual gear shift)..

Looking at the options available, and test driving an XR6 with the optional sports steering wheel, I was quite impressed with this wheel. I have placed an order for my XR6T with this option. I was wondering what other people thought.. If the sports steering wheel is better or the Momo as an option. It also seems to be difficult to find any information on these steering wheels, and a pic of the sports steering wheel seems to be impossible to find....

Justa note of thanks. I have ordered Phantom, but had been unsure till I saw your pics. I was concerned it might not be the head turning colour that it could be.. Great colour, great car..

Just a thought. We are all going to spend $40k plus (except for some lucky buggers) for the XR6T. What is $100 in the picture. Go to Hertz and hire a new BA XT with the auto. It's all I needed to do to know that the manual was the way to go... Also to note, I have now been a passenger (not great but take what I can) in both a manual and auto XR6T. I could be wrong, but the manual seemed to have that bite of acceleration that the auto lacked. It was still quick (auto) but it didn't have the wow factor that the manual had, but I was just a passenger alas. I only need to wait till late feb to know for myself....

Having driven a manual HSV for the last 5 years, I have just ordered an XR6T, but was unsure about the auto manual choice. So I hired an XT BA with auto (I know it's not the same).. And the auto is a sweet box. Changes quick, holds the gears, no lag, a great piece of work. However, it's not a manual. It doesn't feel like a manual. It's just not the same.. A couple of other points. When the auto is in the manual mode, it seems to be a little too far away to have fun. If it was the other way, different story. The other part is that being an auto, you can just forget the gear that you are in and have to look at the dash. In a manual, you don't have that problem. I drive a car no to get from A to B but because I love the drive. In a manual you drive, in an auto you motor. The cluch may be heavy, and not as efficient, but what fun.....
