  1. In fact a new discussion just started about this topic on AFF right here: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11194991 Not sure if it was by someone in here to gather more info? Cheers T
  2. I had a chance to watch the V8 Brutes on TV a few weeks back and I must say it was incredibly exciting. The lead chopped and changed according to the different strengths of the cars and it was completely satisfying to see the XR8 ute take the win, knowing that it was based on production models. Now with the existing series I am just glad to see my favourite driver win more than anything.
  3. Agreed, the only things different between the BF XR6T and the BF Phoons as I have been made aware of are: bigger Intercooler in the Phoon, extra CAI in the Phoon and a different tune (to run higher PSI etc in the Phoon). Apart from that they are essentially the same car in the BF series. Oh and aside from the bodykit and other internal "eye candy" differences Although I would assume you are just going to use one of your currently owned vehicles rather than splash out on a new BF? There is a bit of a discussion about this on AFF though you need to scroll to the bottom before the answer to the question is discussed in detail: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.ph...es+typhoon+xr6t
  4. haha you know you are right...I can't make heads or tails out of it
  5. How do you figure?
  6. Ditto, the missus car is due for an upgrade in a few years and just the other day she was saying "why don't ford do a midi-sedan like other companies" now to me that sounds like "when Ford bring one out, buy one for me honey and I will be so happy and proud of you; you will be infinitely rewarded" hey that's all I need
  7. http://www.caradvice.com.au/6520/ford-mond...urbo-spy-shots/ Does this mean we need to change the title of this section of the forum?
  8. well done mate that's an excellent buy. Yep lots of complaints about the audio system just whack in a good amp and a sub and you will be away!
  9. Me at Motorplex last week. VE R8. http://s185.photobucket.com/albums/x242/Th...x_XR6T_Run2.flv http://s185.photobucket.com/albums/x242/Th...x_XR6T_Run1.flv Like I said, not starting a slinging match I have full respect for the SS and it's potential but the way I see it Cappa wont have any problem at all burning off most SS (stock) models in his stock XR6T on the road. Maybe not the newer ones but there are more than just VE on the road. T Edit: Broken links, fixed now..stupid copy and paste...

  11. well said, here is a comparison on the BF 06 6sp SA range: http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/vehic...mp;key=FORD06OC I know those figures are run in a perfect world scenario but it gives you some idea on what you can expect on price and economy etc T
  12. hey Obi, what year is your SS? I can't vouch for the VZ or VE (as that info is missing from RedBook) but the XR6 Turbo's do 0-100km/h in 6 seconds or quicker (stock). I have heard of some doing it as low as 5.5 seconds stock as a rock. Torque is also similar (BF MK2 XR6T has 480 NM 2000-4500 RPM) so you can't claim top end either. I myself have already beaten numerous SS (VX), GTS (VX) and more recently a VE R8 (twice): Checkout this link: http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/vehic...p;key2=HOLD04CH Sorry not trying to start a slinging match but the stats tell it all... Welcome along to the new comers T
  13. Hey James, Welcome to the forums and congrats on your purchase; the car is an excellent choice! A custom tune should be all you need to achieve that figure (most of the people on here will also recommend getting a BMC/K&N Filter & Typhoon Intake) however you will see some of the people on here like to chase the 300rwkw figure so I thought I would put that down too as this may become a goal one day. As I understand it, there are a only a few things that you need to reach 300rwkw (as explained to me on AFF): "Option 1: Custom Edit K&N or BMC Filter Bosch 968 injectors (440cc) Upgrade Dump and/or Cat (pricing approx $2500-$3000) Option 2: (Better Long term option) Custom Edit K&N or BMC Filter Seimen Deka injectors (630cc) Upgrade exhaust (pricing approx $3500-$4000) Option 2 is the way to go long term as it will save you money when your chasing more power and the car will make power easier. Whilst doing all this I would recommend upgrading the cooler with one that slots striaght in and there's plenty of options including process west, plazmaman or others that your tuner advises and also a fuel upgrade with bosch 044 pump to keep up with the fuel supply. Upgrade the tyres when your ready with a tyre that has better tread rating eg; kumho's or michellins." Anyway you may not want that much info but it may come in handy one day T
  14. Agreed. Got this mod done on Friday avo in conjunction with a BMC Panel Filter and I have found the same; better throttle response, sounds awesome. No tune yet
  15. haha if im in the city, count me in
  16. This is from our man in the V8 Supercar scene: "Russell Ingall is all but signed to Paul Morris Motorsport next season with sponsorship details being finalized at the moment. Ingall's replacement will be Paul Dumbrell with the 9 car being sponsored by Autobarn in a multi year deal. For those of you who don't know Dumbrells old man owns Autobarn. This is the second time that Dumbrell has replaced Ingall when he took the Perkins seat a few seasons ago. Why did Russell leave ? Well his performance of late has not been all that good and he is also getting on a bit and the loss of Caltex as naming rights sponsor. The relationship between Russell and the Stone Brothers and crew has been rocky to say the least for sometime now so all these things have contributed to his downfall."
  17. Sorry when I see italics at the bottom I immediately think "signature" and skim over it Didn't realise that's how it's done around here
  18. No worries at all T
  19. Specifications of the first BA XR8 recorded on Redbook (early January, couldnt see any in the 02 October release period online?) http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/vehic...hp?key=FORD03BR And just to throw in my opinion, all reviews (Wheels Magazine etc) comprising of comparisons of the two models with comparitive drive lines and model (I.e not comparing an 02 with an 06 etc) have shown the XR6T ahead on 0-100 and 1/4 mile time. Not even getting into economy and driveability but as has been mentioned driver choice is subjective and IMO nothing beats the sound of a V8 I have personally beaten a few XR8's and SS stock for stock T
  20. Here are a couple but I dont have a good enough camera to pick up the "green" in the paint so it comes out looking more blue than anything: Cheers T
  21. hahaha are you stalking me mate!?
  22. Oh ok fair enough cheers. Dropped into BPT and he put in some intake that sat under the light fitting on the airbox side of the car on friday. Involved lots of cutting etc not sure which one this is supposed to be but it makes the sweetest air induction sound combined with the BMC Panel Filter :) T
  23. Hey All, Sign up a while ago for this forum but after speaking to Silhoutte6T on Monday I decided to say hi online, I work in IT in Perth and my wife and I recently purchased an 06 BF MK 2 XR6T in Breeze (Ripcurl colour) with only 900km's on the clock at the time so got a good ex-demo deal. Goes like the clappers compared to my last car (BA MK2 XR6) and just love the new 6spd ZF box. And that boost is so addictive I can't control my right food! No mods just yet though I am dropping into BPT this avo to get the Phoon Lower Intake fitted and picking up a BMC Panel Filter which will get the ball rolling. Not keen on voiding the warranty just yet with a tune up but with all of the talk on here about 300rwkw, 280km/h and 11 second quarter miles I think its going to be hard to last the full 2 years before the warranty goes away... Anyway if the planned lane booking down at Motorplex goes ahead in a few weeks I will probably meet many of you then, Cheers Tristan
