  1. hey guys just to comment on ANI's comment about restricted airflow, I weighed it up and I thought that the slight reduction in airflow it causes is justified the first time a rock got stuck in the grill and not in the intercooler...(that happened only a few days later phew!!!) bent fins etc on the cooler would have a greater effect than the grill I'd imagine. Also I did the install b4 the 3000 service and specifically asked the tech who said there should be no problems. Also I did the grill myself got a sheet of chrome grill mesh from repco $30 bucks and about 90mins to 2 hrs later voula. I'll post some pics soon.
  2. the funniest is when u parallel park and ppl walking along the footpath turn their heads as they walk past to have a good look..............resulting in head on collision with either a) another onlooker/s or B) a post/sign/tree /eny stationary object.

24900 gonna have arthritis after that
  4. I am pretty sure there is. All the new cars we've owned "went better" after their 1st proper serveice. Our v8 ef fairmont was like another car after its 10000k and so was our explorer. So I can't wait for the day my baby goes in for its 15000k. Although that's gonna take a while :o as I don't do that many ks a day. <------benefit of working from home all miles are fun miles :punchhead:

Gregorys were dead keen to w/a my car as well at 3000km, even though I had reported no problems. I suspect that they hadn't set it up correctly for the 18s in the first place, rather they just traded wheels with another car that they had in stock. They didn't charge me for it so I was happy. just thought I'd add that I had the same drama had my 17 swapped with 18s of another car. Post delivery read of owners manual states that camber / castor settings had to be altered to suit 18s (dunno y) also the balance of the 18s were wrong (dunno y either.....didn't think they on car balancing if done could be so different) rang em up and they paid for the alignment no dramas Thank u BBF. Back on the topic of 3000ks service I didn't get any paper work and I know the oil wasn't changed which I think is especially on a turbo performance car like this rather bad. I would like to believe that Ford would reconsider the 15000k period between just the 1st oil change. What happened to the days of using running in oil for a few thou then changing over to the good stuff???????? perhaps some1 from ford could tell us y this isn't done
  6. perhaps people are finally showing us T driver the respect the car deserves............either that or they are just staring in envy :punchhead:
  7. and also imho I think this post has got it spot on
  8. ummm if I ain't mistaken ferraris now use a paddle shift clutchless manual or if u like an automatic clutch...perhaps maybe just maybe theres good reason for this. However being a manual fan I believe with previous experience that a manual car with a box equal to its auto partner will be slightly quicker on the best runs purely because being automatic requires power to drive it. But it comes down to the fact that a good 1/4 and a bad 1/4 in a manual can be up to 1 second. Therefore autos r slightly better for you got better chance of making your best time more often. However manuals on the other hand do pose a benefit in that you can whack a manual into 2nd at 80 to 90ks and let the engine slow you down like to see how many autos will change in to first when n where u need it all the time. Overall though the SSS kills the T5 which although may have had its improvements over the years which if memory serves me correctly was also used the EA falcon I mean 2002 technology VS early 90s technonlogy there is 1 clear winner.
  9. if you have your SIDO number ask ford for your build pics........ if they are sent to you then you know she's built if not then ford should either tell you when or they will just send them when the build photos are ready
  10. just noticed I got them scrapes today as I was fitting mesh to the bar to stop stones and bugs hittin my cooler
  11. I mainly use it to slow me down more than anythign else. otherwise I use performance mode in traffic and adp everywhere else. I find it shifts smoother automatically but its really impressive how quick the shifts are for a non shift kitted trans
  12. I tested an xr8 with 18s and then a T wif 17s thought the 18s were quieter and rode better. just a thing to tell all of you who get 17s and upgrade to 18s in the back of the manual it tells you that upon changing to 18s you need to change the toe on all 4 wheels to compensate. so when any1 upgrades to non factory rims should make sure you get them changed But on the subject go the 18s u won't regret it they look sick and I reckon just make something excellant that little bit better!!!!
  13. Also by the way I bought a sheet of this stuff its like a stick on bonnet / headlight protector and cut out pieces for the fog light lense. doesn't effect the light and u can't really see it on but should stop it happening again.
  14. trumpy it was I who posted the thread on cracked foggy. Got it 1st decent run out #%$* yeah the manual shows you how to remove the fog light on the back of the whole lot is the hella part number. (it actually says hella either on the front of the lense or on the side) I rang hella who gave me nearest dealer (it was autobahn up here in qld) who order just the lense from melbourne and yeah around $50 I think incl postage. SO u can but just the lense. Not the whole lot like I got quoted. Give Autobahn or hella a ring after u get the Hella part number. Hope this helps.
  15. I agree I will park my boat out the front of my damm house as long as I want. Imagine what every1 would say when they rock back up to their trailers on a busy weekend after parking 500m up the road cause there ain't enough trailer spots to find a ticket BULLS**T I say. Also the truckers braking efficiency ............ I reckon a prime mover with no trailer would stop as fast or faster than some sedans (does the sedan have ABS?????? Premium brakes????) and a fully loaded 1 I doubt would stop 75% as quickly as my T
  16. having had the T for just over a month now done 2500ks finally had a go and giving it a good run on the weekend when I went on the XR clubs Rally. Took in from city out Mt Glorious to Wyvienhoe and ESK accros to Ravensborne and Toowoomba and down to gatton. About 350Ks of mountains etc and occasional boots to its limit spd limit that is .......(I mean no no there wasn't) the Average was 18L/100 not bad considering the driving style. On the way back just cruising home 100 - 110 or so I got 10.5L/100 and overall average is about 13L/100. Overall couldn't be happier with the beast (we ended up winning the rally even against BBF's Own XR8) loving every minute the looks the sound the power just everything rules and the last run really proved it.
  17. the missus and my kids they've been driving long enough also they know if they break it they r dead (besides I know where their driving comes from! ) and if theres any1 else it'd be on a case by case basis!!!

Hey guys great forum just thought I'd add my contribution to this topic. 9) Why do XR8's get lighted switch gear for the windows ??????? well the XR8 doesn't go (as good as we do anyway) so they need the lights in the window switches so they can get the windows down quick at night to hear the XR6Ts flying past!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey DEVO depending on where u r in brisvegas RACE in capalaba if you are on the southside do excellant work and would be the 1st place I recommend. however when it comes to most exhaust shops most use the same stuff or will get you just about any brand etc you are after so I don't think it'll really matter. Also the XT is still a FORD and theres no substituite for the best good to see we are converting more and more commie drivers.

also just to add all falcons and c********* have always had a 1200kg limit for towing. have been told by a couple of ppl on that one of the reasons is that engine / turbo oil will overheat with the added stress of anything over 1600kg however I seriously doubt that this would occur if u were careful with your driving style while towing and especially if it isn't long distance. however when towing with my ef V8 fairmont towing a 22 footer which was about 2100 - 2200 depending on extra load I managed to increase the door gap of the rear doors by a couple of mm and that was with 2300 tow pack etc etc etc and being very nice. maybe if you want to tow heavy things it might be an idea to buy something with a proper chassis. note it stretched that bit then stopped. and I know that it def wasn't like that originally

just though I'd shed some light. if ya gonna order one I would almost be tempted to demand 1. ford haven't made any exclusions apart from commercials (sorry u ute buyers out there) and you can always say u got the deal from another dealer and if they don't at least match I ain't buyin! (it worked on our trade and them swapping the 18s from another car to ours........and we didn't order 1 either) when ours got ordered the both dealers that we got quotes from didn't know much about it till I told them secondly 1 dealer allowed the 18's as a package the other said it only applied to dealer fitted options and not factory options. so things like prem sound etc all not included only the momo stuff, mats scuffs protectors and warranties apply. anyway hopefully this adds something to think about.
  22. My XR6T (May 9th Delivery) has 18 inch rims. Had bad wheel vibration (enough to make sun visor shake in down position.) Turned out all four wheels were out of balance (two had no weights at all) Needed 90 grams, 74 grams, 72 grams and 45 grams to smoothen her out. Oh so smooth now ! In All fairness the dealer took the wheels off another car to give me "instant delivery on the car- all the other specs, premium sound etc were already in it as viwed on showroom floor. Consider myself real lucky to get ex showroom delivery. Perhaps something was lost in balance when tranferring the wheels to my car. XR6PSI
  23. FRosty, Did you find out source of your oil leak. Had my XR6T 6 days and then got smell of engine oil on hot exhaust after shut down. No visible smoke but smell seems to be coming up strongest from betweenn rear of turbo heat shield and firewall. Seems to be intermitent (or takes a long time for one drip of oil to hit hot exhaust.) No oil on ground. Happens whether local shopping or 110 on freeway. Any clues please. Mike knight
  24. as I have only got not even 1000ks yet I haven't had anything go wrong with the car except on 2nd day mind u first cruise out I somehow picked up a stone and cracked 1 of my fog lights (only pointed out to me by a mate when I was showing it off bit embarassing) so I rang up mr ford spares and no dramas $256 bucks plus fitting no thanks. so I looked aftermarket of course the survey says.........too new ain't got anything. then good old mum noticed that the light had hella on it well long story short looked up the hella site got the part number of just the lense thank u not the whole unit!!!!! Went down to autobahn and.......... hey presto $60 including freight from melbourne So looking in the manual on how to change the fog lamp bulb thank u Mr ford again 20 mins later shes all good again. So it pays to do a little bit of research. can save u lots of moola which can be put to much better use like 1 of those chips maybe........ might wait till cars got a few more ks on it I thinks
  25. I got my SSS auto for free thank u mr ford dealer! also I was 1 lucky b****rd in that I didn't have to wait for mine......walked in saw it there the turbo the colour (in n out) the premium sound... and I told the dealer no 18s no deal and guess what it got 18s too. (feel sorry if the buyer of that XR8 wanted 18s he he) also I got the 1500 bucks of options for 500 in that current freedom pack options. so I got the alarm reversing sensors bonnet protector mudspats scuff plates and ming included. not bad considered I only waited a week for my baby!!!!
