bcl Toughest BA Turbo Legacy Donating Member 3,408 Member For: 23y 9m 1d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 07/02/04 12:04 AM Posted 07/02/04 12:04 AM It depends on what type of lowered spring you use, as the spring rates can and will differ depending on your requirements.It also depends on the road height you want, basically low or super low.... too low and you just have to be very careful over speed humps etc.If you want a car that will do a lot of track use you might want a firmer spring, plus modified shocks.I use the Herrod spring, which is a progressive rate spring (soft initially then firmer), and still very comfortable, with ride height that's OK in my opinion. I've no idea how it will handle around the track, as I've yet to do a track day.Brian

I would recommend this be the very first mod you do. IMO the standard XR ride height is too high for a performance sports car. I used pedders sports ride all round with a adjustable camber kit in the front. PM me for details if you like....About $600ish complete....

Disadvantages: underbody damage. :( If you like scraping the front or rear of your car on kerbs, speed humps and steep driveways, do it.I lowered a car once, only a bit and it's amazing the difference in clearance a small drop can make. I wouldn't do it, but where I live, I need the clearance. :o

Apart from that, I have never scraped the underbody anywhere...Sports Riders sits about 35mm lower than standard....

Not sure if it's compulsary or not, or even if it's actually neccessary. Cost is ~$850 fitted.

Not compulsory but a good idea if you dont want uneven wear on your tyres as the lowering will throw the camber out.
