Mt Baw Baw Cruise 2010

DATE: Sunday 18th April 2010

TIME: 9am Departure

smallSmall_Blank_DSCN8495.jpg

DESCRIPTION: Start at Bunnings Fountain Gate and rumble along in a line along the Princes Highway to Neerim South for coffee pitstop, then right into Noojee and onwards for the fantastic run up to Mt Baw Baw resort through some dream twisties. Hot lunch at Village Central with views over the valley. Then nothing better to do but to do it all over again coming back down the mountain! After Noojee, a brief photo opp at the historic Trestle Bridge and then we head through some sweeping bends to Powelltown. Onwards to Yarra Junction then left into some more forest driving to Gembrook for a coffee pitstop for those with the time.

All sealed roads except for a short distance on well made dirt road to the historic Trestle Bridge.

Please be aware there are some incredible twisties on this route - best let any passangers know of potential motion sickness :beerchug:

DURATION: Approximately 7 hours including lunch and exploring the historic Trestle Bridge. As a courtesy to your fellow cruisers, please have a full tank upon departure. This is a long cruise - and it should go without saying that you can join/leave at anytime.

MEET:

Bunnings Fountain Gate, Narre Warren at 9am (Melways 110 F5) - take Narre Warren North Rd C404 exist off Princess Freeway.

2 Narre Warren North Road, Narre Warren (for your GPS :spoton: )

BRING:

Optional, but strongly recommended, UHF 40 channel CB Radio to keep across road hazards and general chatter. EvilDaifu has a few CBs for free loan on the cruise if anyone is interested - just PM EvilDaifu to reserve one.

Camera for the photo opps and the views.

Coinage for lunch, fuel and $5 for parking at the top of Mt Baw Baw.

Warm clothes - though it's Autumn, it's still an alpine region.

PLAN B:

For those that still want to go for a drive and its only drizzling but not pouring rain - here's Plan B. Just a short 1 hour to Warburton for morning coffee and photo opp by the Yarra River then back again along same route (yep - it's that good :surrenderwave: )

RULES:

1. Obey all laws whilst on the cruise; this means no speeding, no overtaking over double lines (no matter how safe you think it may be), etc...

2. There is a designated cruise leader who will lead the way and set the correct pace for all cruise members.

3. Use the Buddy system - always make sure you can see the car behind you. This will give people behind you an indication on where to turn to make sure nobody gets lost.

4. CB Radios - if you don't have one, follow the maps and directions given out. It is highly recommended to have CB as it enhances the enjoyment of the cruise being able to hear about road hazards and join in on the social chatter.

5. Please turn up to the meeting points with a sufficient fuel in your tank and enough time before the departure time.

6. By attending this cruise you agree not to hold FordXR6Turbo.com, it's Administrators, Moderators, Cruise Controllers, or Owner responsible / liable for any damage and / or grief sustained (simply; you are responsible for your own actions).

Adam, nice new sig :pooh: You had anything to do with it by any chance :spoton: Have a good holiday anyway :beerchug: Tell you what, am lovin work now because everytime I look at my putar - see my car as the desktop background :w00t2:

Okay, just gotta check that there will be a restuarant open at the top when we go up - know back in Feb it would have been open for summer recreationists, but I have to double check for April - think we may be having a picnic at the top if the restuarant aint open.

Like Adam and Rudiger says, hopefully we get some good numbers and characters coming along :omg:
