  1. Happy Birthday flappist!

  2. There have been several threads around about F6 owners and whether or not they have bought their car to replace a V8 in the search for more performance or not. The zealots from all sides have tended to get a bit upset so the idea of this poll is to show just howm many F6 owners previously owned V8 falcons or holdens or if the F6 is just a progression from XR6Ts or jap turbos or none of the above. If your previous vehicle was not a "performance" model e.g. XR6 N/A, Fairmont, Terri, SV6 or whatever please tick the "first performance car". Mine was a manual BA GT-P in blueprint. N.B. Yes there is a similar poll on another totally anonymous forum
  3. There is no model specific data. My build plate is "F6 Typhoon 0217" (ba2), a friend of mine has EXACTLY the same build plate in his BF. The types are GT, GT-P, Pursuit, Super Pursuit, F6 Tornado, F6 Typhoon, F6 Typhoon R-Spec, Force 6, Force 8, GT 40th and Cobra. Apart from the obvious ones that are only one year the exact plates are repeated over and over again. My GT-P (BA) was build 0066, it is blueprint, the BA Mk2 GT-P build 0066 is lightning strike and there are two others BF & BF2..........ALL ARE IDENTICAL Does this make it clear?
  4. And FPV made both of the Force 8s...... In the original BA there were over 1100 GTs
  5. At least you got your CDs back, I am still waiting for mine...
  6. I went from a GT-P to a Typhoon and never looked back. Well that is not 100% true, I did look back a couple of times to try and see where the V8s were but they were too far behind......
  7. No the cars for cancer one is sitting in my garage.
  8. No FPV has DSC. When I asked David Flint why he said it was for cost reasons.
  9. I used to have one, it seemed pretty good to me while I was blatting all over NT at 200 to 250 km/h with an outside temp of 45 deg. I did 85,000 km and had bugger all problems. It went well, handled well and was very reliable. True it was not as quick as my F6 but then it was far easier to drive and much more forgiving as well as being more comfortable. It was a brilliant grand tourer and if I were to choose between a GT-P and a F6 for long distance travel in woop woop I would choose the GT-P. On the other hand for short blats (up to 500km) and buzzing around in the traffic the turbo is definitely the go.
  10. Q: What do you call a XR6T with a GT body kit, stripes and a bonnet bulge? A: A sleeper.....
  11. I have a photo of it somewhere. If I can find it I will post it later. I took it at southside ford about 6 months ago. The rear tyres were a bit sad then. I suspect it has been "demoed" a lot. Still, it looked very nice and it is a super rare colour.
  12. 1) He works in the motor vehicle industry, yeh he wouldn't fib would he (assuming he even knows) 2) There cannot be an "old flash" in the flash box as it always reads the latest one out of the pcm into it when you change from factory to "zoom". If your car was reflashed while it had a "zoom" edit installed the flash box will no longer work as it thinks it is a different car. 3) If the flash were detectable then this and several other forums would be full of people b**ching about warrany voiding on their cars. There have been NONE and as the flashers have been about for a bit over a year I suspect that they really ARE invisible. Also the retailers have stated as much in WRITING, if they are not as stated then this constitutes fraud and that can be really bad for your bank balance. N.B. the BF uses a different PCM to the BA (silkyoak rather than blackoak), these may be detectable as they have nor been fully explored as yet....
  13. The biggest problem you have is QLD is the price of the plates. Prestige plates e.g. FPV_F6 (mine) or HSV_SUX cost $2200. If you choose a 3a2n (eg FPV 98), 2n3a (eg 27 0KW) or a 3a3n within certain combos (e.g. FPV 098) it will cost about $300. www.ppq.com.au
  14. Acid. dipping, painting, heating etc will get rid of MOST if not ALMOST all of the dots. Coppers do not randomly look for nicked cars, they work on previous information aquired. The problem is when you have the grub(s) in the interview room they deny everything and the burden of proof is on the prosecution. Only one data dot is needed to prove origination and it's game over. Another grub bites the dust................ (of course he will be out again in about 10 minutes due to our wonderful legal system but that's another story)
  15. You guys do realise that the BA F6 has the same DIVCT engine and the BF don't you? The differences are mostly cosmetic with a bit of a suspension upgrade. N.B. autos are a bit different
  16. Factory standard F6 with every option except sunroof (read HEAVY) running BP Ultimate with no additives and original SP9000 tyres last night at Willowbank. 13.879@102.25, 60'@2.213, 19degOAT, 75%H, QNH1022, 572RA, 22degTT This is just the beginning, there is much more to be had..........
  17. You have 3500km on a Tornado, you have been a busy little vegemite. Great vid and good launch.

    Aps Edit

The whole ECU sig is FUD (rear uncertanty & doubt) The errors reported are ones that if it were an original program would have meant the vehicle was having a spac attack, e.g. one of them states that the throttle sensors have failed. So if you have a VERY radical tune and get a few of these errors reported and you reflash back to stock and the mechanic at the dealership actually cares and reports these errors there is circumstantial evidence that maybe there has been a reflash. Like if you have 12 empty stubbies in your car you MIGHT be drink driving or you MIGHT be on your way to the dump. If you are super paranoid, after reflash, remove pos terminal, turn on headlights for 30 sec, replace pos terminal (turn off lights first otherwise gzzzzzzt) and the errors are cleared. Remember your radio is now dead and you will need the secret squirrel code to revive it. There is also a story that Ford can even tell which flasher you used. This is really clever because the difference between the standard upgrade in most of the "name" distributors is the sticker on the front.
  19. It always amuses me how there is lots of advise about things like whether or not to buy brembos from people who have never actually driven let alone owned a BA with either PBRs or Brembos. A few points as I own a F6 and did own a GT-P. 1) the Brembo option will actually cost you 5950 + 25% LCT 2) The replacement pads are about $1200 from most brake places 3) I did 85,000 km in my GT-P and when I sold it there was still heaps of wear left 4) I have PBRs on my Typhoon and they are not even close to as good at stopping at high speed as the heavier GT-P. 5) I am very seriously looking at flogging the F6 this weekend and buying another one with Brembos. 6) If you fit any after market brakes your warranty goes bye bye and unless you get the appropriate certs so does your insurance. Now if all you want to do is tool around town and engage in the odd traffic light grand prix you will probably not need anything more than PBRs but if you are going to blast about in the bush you are going to get into trouble. I ran a give way sign the first week I had the F6 as it did not stop as quickly as I was used to in the GT-P (This was from about 160-170 on a private road in the bush). The other issue with F6 (and XR6T) is the lack of back pressure when you back off. Low compressions engines are like that so the brakes do a lot mre work. If you can afford it, buy it, if not I have 3000km old F6 going cheap....
  20. They are a pain in the arse when you have the car valet parked.... If I had a dollar for evey time I have had to go down into the valet parking area to retreive my car after some pimply faced riceboy in a monkey suit has wasted 20 minutes trying to start the car and has decided it is stuffed......... Even when you A: ask them have you driven a GT before (of course they have, lots of them, they are rooooooooly good drivers . B: tell them there is a starter button on the dash to the left of the steering wheel, They STILL *beep* it up.... ahhhh feel lots better now

    T Vs Gt

All new BOSS V8s are a bit slow. They don't really get up and go until they have at least 20,000km on them. I have driven a lot of different new BAs; GT, GT-P, Pursuit, XR8 & XR6T and all of the V8s were pathetic compared to mine with 70,000km on the clock. On the other hand I have also driven a couple that have had a few Ks on them. These went well, as good as if not better than mine. Interestingly the V8s improve a lot with time whereas the 6Ts seem to be close to their optimum from day 1. See if you can get a test drive in a s/h GT, you may be surprised.
  22. NO! I reckon they should not bring back the GTHO. Not just yet anyway. Can you imagine FPV building a 350kw GTHO, only to have Clubsports with similar outputs within a few months? The original GTHOs were unbeatable for 20 years. A new one would need to be that too. Anthony The ONLY reason the GTHO was unbeatable for 20 years was the government "ban" after Evan Green's supercar scare story. Note: the GTHO was unbeatable by only australian cars, there were lots of yank, euros and jap stuff that made it look like a billycart. Sorry, but that is the truth. E.G of faster cars, Corvette, Cobra (yank), porsche turbo, M5, lambos, ferrari, skyline GTR..... you get the idea
  23. Media is easily fixed... Engine is rated at 299kw but might put out a bit more Vehicle is speed limited to 160km/h but this is set by a removeable link (for racing only) The standard car is NEVER officially tested in public by FPV and performance figures are NEVER published. Media have nothing to go on.....
  24. GT-P fuel economy. Normal driving 11-13l/100km City traffic 13-15l/100km Av speed 160km/h 15l/100km Av speed 180km/h 18l/100km Av speed 210km/h 22l/100km 250km/h , you can actually see the fuel gauge move * high speed averages are approximate and measured over several thousand kms in NT by dividing fuel used by distance travelled and not by that stupid fuel usage meter. My GT-P has 42,000km on it, it had 27,000 km when I did thos tests in November last year.
  25. Not only should the GT-P be more powerful but FPV should recall all the exisiting ones for a FREE upgrade. To quote the famous milk commercial, "In your dreams" GT-P 243.7 rwkw stock
