How much lock are you having to put on before the rubbing starts? Hard lock, or just driving around a corner or?

sounds like air in the power steering system unless you've got rubber bits falling to the ground around the tyres as you go from lock to lock in a stationary position.

Wait hang on - so you get rubbing noises and you can feel them, when moving in a straight line without turning the wheel?

Put the car on some ramps (or a 4 post hoist if you can) so the suspension is compressed, and have a look to see what's rubbing. You may even be able to park it with 2 wheels on the curb and 2 on the road

Almost found it, its coming from one of the left hand side ball joints, just cant figure out which one as it stops making noise when I jack it up and only makes noise under load. Very frustrating but almost there. Thanks for your help everyone

Good to hear you found it!

You can test lower by jacking car up so the wheel is just off the ground and put a pry bar under tyre and lever it up/down and see if it moves
