May 27, 20188 yr #13 ^^ correct it wouldn’t be a dud lifter, motor would run rough. shouldn’t be the crank, rods pins etc. its likely a simple problem super hard to diagnose over the net buddy
May 27, 20188 yr #14 Author Okay it's a solid knocking not a squeak sounds like it's coming from that head.
May 27, 20188 yr #15 yea, that's what bad belt tensioner sounds like. It sounds like its coming from head. Check first, might be lucky. Edited May 27, 20188 yr by adams355

May 28, 20188 yr #19 Author I was lead to believe blocked pickup reduction in oil availability to the top of the engine cause the knock. Sump removal is cheapest option oil and some black maxxxxx is why I went that route rather than changing parts one after the other.
May 28, 20188 yr #20 If the pick up is blocked then your motor is full of sludge anyway and its on its last legs. I would have taken off the valve cover before the sump. Pop it off, see sludge then put motor in the bin. If the sumps been off before or changed then the pick up height could have been effected. do a compression check and if that's all good then take it to Ford to have them look at it and be prepared to pay $$$$$$$$$$s
