Hi, I have just had the same thing with my FGX ute, alternator failed due to power steering leaking into it....bad design there Ford! Bought a new "genuine" alternator from eBay Bay Ford Parts. The rear mount was not threaded. Respose from them when I complained "We have sold 715 of these without an issue. This material is designed to have a self forming thread once fitted to vehicle".

I would love to see the factory screw make its own thread into that hole without wrecking it. Anyway I had the hole tapped with the 8 x 1.25mm thread. Seems odd to me that was the way to manufacture something "genuine"

We offer Genuine Ford alternators to suit Ford Falcons in the BA, BF and FG families as well as Territories. All products come with Ford national warranty so you will not find yourself in a tricky situation.

Note:

Rear mounting hole is a self threading hole, customer will need to use the bolt to cut its own thread.
