once there is sludge in the motor it's there for ever or until stripped down and hot tanked. Oil flush will help keep the oil galleries from getting worse but it will not remove any solid sludge

Sludge can be cleaned with the right oil additives, no chance to get rid of varnish though without some harsh stuff

I've just gone from Edge 10w60 to Amsoil 10w40 PP for the cooler season. I might stick with it year round though, as she don't get driven hard for as long anymore - just a quick stabby stabby now and then. The Amsoil has a high zinc content and a high TBN and it feels really nice

you may be correct but I have not seen 1 product that has removed built up sludge, I have a 670,000klm hilux that is sludged pretty bad, happy to try your recommended product to see how it turns out

Just got my xr6t ute back from the 3k service which I asked for the oil and filter to be changed. Got back home now and on the paperwork noticed it says they put 10w30 in it!! Prob not gonna hurt it as we are coming into the colder months but just annoyed. First and last time its been there and Im never taking it back.

If yours is a mk2 they have put the correct oil in... mk2 are specified as 5w30 but most oil manufacturers 10w30 meets the ford spec and is cheaper so they put that in

Your kidding! Yep fg mk2. Been reading this forum and was convinced it was 15w40. You just saved me an embarrassing phone call.

Might sound stupid but you wouldn't by any chance know why they decided to change the grade?
