January 13, 20179 yr #1 hey guys im looking at changing my ba xr6 turbo cams. just wondering if there is any machining involved to fit the cams or are they a straight drop in? ive got valve springs retainers etc. just wondering does anything else need to be done ie cam height etc to suit
January 13, 20179 yr #2 ask the manufacturer of the cams themselves. Most are drop-in, as far as I know. it's usually a waste of time, unless you only want to change the exhaust note.
January 13, 20179 yr #3 Depends on the size of the cams but some will come with shims to put underneath the lash adjusters
January 13, 20179 yr #4 Hey what's up pb luke. I'd suggest you Google camshaft fitment and do some reading about new cam installation. Check more than one site to gather this info. Although the info you find may not be xr6 specific there are some protocols that should be adhered to when fitting new cams. With the right base knowledge you should be able to combine that with the cam manufacturers recommendations (machining, run in procedure including break in springs if needed, spring and retainer assembly, lifter recommendations etc etc) and have a hassle free install and run in.
