Car Surging At 3000Rpm, Faulty Fuel Pump And Regulator.

Hey fellow forum member,

I have a stock BF MKII XR6T which is the wife daily driver, and took it for a drive the another day and found that under heavy acceleration at around 3000rpm vehicle surged badly so I backed off. Took it to mechanic today an he has told me that fuel pressure was all over the place and recommend changing fuel pump and fuel regulator. I will be replacing the fuel pump with a Walbro GSS340 as I plan to do future upgrades (exhaust,FMIC and tune) but I can't seem to find an alternative fuel pressure regulator, will the standard fuel pressure regulator handle 12psi or is there an alternative fuel pressure I can install?

A standard one will be fine for what you're talking about doing. Also, perhaps look at a walbro 460 as an intank pump.

Do what bendoco did. He got in touch with herrods and got there pump and fuel reg and is pushing 400 so give them a buzz and see what they can do. His is fg so depends on what year the bf is not sure when they started to use the tank that's in the fg now.

Dont get a pump thatll be redunant at stage 1

Future proof mods and pumps arent expensive. Especially a 460 in standard swirl pot

So I replaced the fuel pump with a walbro 400 and larger swirl pot unit and got a fuel pressure reg from Ford. Installing the fuel pump was hassle free, when I got to changing the fuel pressure reg I noticed that the genuine unit had 4.0 bar stamped into the side of it. Just thought I would let you guys know as I thought I read somewhere on here that standard unit where lower than that.

No mate 4 bar is std ( 58psi ) is what the falcon needs to see in the rail

I really don't think you needed a new reg as they are very good reliable item in stock

I do think your pump may of been dying

Either way at least their new now
