Non-Genuine Zf Filters Ok?

Featured Replies

#1

I recently bought a steel sump for my g6et and it came with a non genuine filter.
I'm wondering if it's ok to use the non-genuine transmission filter or am I better off buying a genuine one??
I don't want to buy a genuine one if the aftermarket does the job just as well.

Thankyou.

AF should be ok, it will meet the same spec as a gen (or should) ZF would be best though

It will be fine..

My g6et came with a metal pan, its an 08. Does that mean it's been serviced at some stage or did they ditch the plastic at some point?

#5

Yeah my 08 has a steel pan as well... I think some did come factory with them

My 2011 actually came with a metal pan aswell but I didn't realise til after I ordered the new one lol.
The new pan has a drain plug that the original doesn't though.

Perhaps somebody can confirm but I heard they changed to metal cause some awesome drivers were cracking the plastic ones on speed bumps and the like. Coz dukes of hazard

I would always think the car would bottom out on chassis before your tranny hits the ground...

Or you would damage a whole lot more than just your tranny pan
