Intake Muffler Delete Lost Power

Actually is a little more responsive with the stock pipe back on. I actually reckon it sounds better too it smooths out the sound a lot...I'm gonna run with it for a while.

20kw sounds a lot though dunno if I believe that one

I initially tried the 4" and instantly noticed it was laggier and imo actually sounded worse. I put the stock pipe back on and noticed an immediate improvement in response.

Months later I was offered/given a 3.5" pipe to try so I gave it a crack thinking maybe the 4" was too big for the small turbo, but it was the same.

Stock pipe went back on and the 3.5" went in the bin.

Like I said before maybe they are ok on a tuned car but imo they are a waste of money on a stock car especially with the smaller turbo.

Would there be any real difference given that some of the muffler deletes I have seen are pretty solid metal pipes and would absorb/hold more heat then the plastic muffler pipe that ford supplies?

I think it's gained response before the turbo starts spooling if that makes sense? Really low down torque like under 2000rpm seems a little better, just a bit more effortless.. Could be placebo stemming from the fact the engine sounds smoother and quieter now though. Ahh we need a mighty car mods experiment done on this

I personally think there may be the tiniest bit of lag....and I mean tiniest like 100rpm or something stupid; but 20kw is a little obscene? I am on stock tune so as mentioned, perhaps a really worked car would have the tiny lag magnified?....although for me its all about the noise!

The noise from when it first got changed over was awesome....you could really hear the spool; but now I guess I have either gotten used to it or its quietened down somehow (as its not as crazy anymore?)

But I think this will continue to be a highly debated topic; like the bov/no bov argument

I just installed a process west intake muffler delete and it's coming off as soon as car has cooled down. The awesome turkey noise from the Herrod intake that I used to get when closing the throttle is gone, and replaced with a whoosh that sounds like the boost leak I had when the joiner into the throttle body split. The increased spool sound is pretty average, a kinda dirty noise and not the clean turbine sound I was expecting. I'll check the rubber joiner when I take it off to make sure it hasn't split, they're pretty bloody flimsy but I don't think that's the problem. Disappointing, it was pricey for a metal pipe, a hose and two jubilee clips, even more so considering I won't be using it.

That's exactly what I think, the sound is actually unpleasant not a nice clean turbo spool sound..

Sounds better with the intake muffler I'm glad I put mine back on.

Ps who wants to buy a pw muffler delete :/

Do they sound just like a big "whoosh" sound? I hate that

I like that nice clean high pitched "fshhhhhhhh" kind of sound you get from say a big truck going past

Mine sometimes whooshes but fuark it sounds good
