As the title suggests, how damaging is turbo flutter/ dosing?

I've read a few threads trying to find an answer but found nothing. Found plenty of info on how to make it flutter though.

I was lead to believe it is really bad for your turbo. True or not?

I have bought a stock BA turbo with the factory bov return line thing capped off. I rather like the noise but I don't want to go damaging the turbo.

I plan on getting a mild tune at some point too, if that makes it any worse.

your turbo will spin backwards and unicorn will blow out the exhaust with magical dust....

Allthough nobody has done a true experiment from what I know, general consensus seems to be that it doesn't do any noticable damage in a short time, perhaps after 100,000km of fluttering it may have a bit more wear than other turbos, there have been people who have had it like that for ages and never had an Issue.

But the opinion seems to vary, there is a turbo rebuilder who swears that it causes serious damage, and a while back with the whole Import market strong fluttering was frowned upon but I take it mainly to push sales of all the BOV's.

I'd just go from what experiences others have, you don't really hear of any sudden turbo failures when people make it flutter so it should be fine.

It's never to soon to talk about the effects of flutter on dolphins.
