Hey, I have a stupid question after reading another topic on intercoolers but can a air to air cooler be made to fit these 5L PD engines in our FPV,s?

Just wondering

Anything is possible.

Our opinion would be that the level of manufacture and modification of existing components would far outweigh any advantages.

Are you talking about a front mount or one mounted in the engine bay?

I'd say it wouldn't offer any advantage over the current water to air ones.

But a front mount if possible would be a good cost effective option.

Actually on seconds thoughts, it would be very hard to do it as it's a top mount supercharger and blows directly into the inlet runners, so you would need to fabricate separate plenums, one to join the supercharger to a outlet to goto a remote intercooler and other to bring cooled air into the runners.

Water to air is virtually the only way to intercool a PD setup.

For a air to air, you would have to space up the blower, direct the charge air to a front mounted radiator, then direct it back to the intake manifold. It could be done, but the blower would be way out the bonnet due to clearance clarence.
