Cam Work On The Boss 5.4 Anyone Done And What Power Gains ?

I sold my xr8 5.4 for this very reason (and turbo's are cool as sh*t!)

for the $$$ that a modular motor would consume, the gains were lacking in my opinion.

my best Idea was to just go straight to a blower setup, something from vortech or one of those crowds.

make the engine more efficient, make more power. The timing chains concerned me... very long!!

look around in the states for their 2010-11 mustangs (same 5.4dohc) they had a better intake I believe..

Lets just say I'm more into the bark is worst then the bite the note and the shake which a camm brings is what I'm after just curious to see what performance comes of it not interested in a turbo . But yep will google and see what the 5.4 mustangs in the USA are doing thx

I have a mate at work that got a fair bit of work done to his Boss 260 over xmas. Put in a really aggressive/big cam.

Sounds good but also only gets a bit over 250km per tank of fuel :/

only spend the money on the NA 5.4 if your not interested in big power. if you are then supercharge it.

its a big $$$ project though...

I know it seems to be a generic answer, but how much difference would it be to upgrade to a s/c gs?

just take off 2 coil packs then engine will shake and sound lumpy and use heaps of juice instant big cam I love cars that barely idle

herrod released a cam package for the boss 5.4 motors to give it the lumpy idle and a small power increase to go with it

I remember seeing someone's gt ages ago using a capa intercooled supercharger kit I think it made 320-340rkw the only dodge thing is I re,member one of the pipes ran under the headlight and the headlight didn't sit well sounded tough and you have the benefit of on selling the supercharger before you sell the car to make money back

In answering your question panda it's easier to explain to the misses that I'm just putting the car in for a service then going out and buying a new one the next new one realistic for me will b in 3-4 years but til then I need to have a little fun with this car
