My question is that do you have to get a xcal to get a tune, I know with other cars you can take it in and just get a tune done, without a xcal, my cousin with his wrx took it to HPF and they stored the factory tune from his car on there computer and uploaded the custom (in shop Dyno tune) is this possible with our fg xr6-turbos and more so will Places like Pit lane do it, ??

Entirely possible, unless your tuner wants to use the SCT system to do the tune.

Xcal uses the SCT software to tune the car.. Plenty of other pieces of software that don't require a hand controller..

However Pitlane will only tune a turbo falcon using SCT I believe..

as mentioned HP Tuners/VCM Suite can be used to tune one of these cars, but we prefer to use the SCT product for the ford and use our HP/VCM for the holdens as each works best in the above application

XCAL3 is handy to carry around to change pre-configure tunes on the fly eg want to go back to stock conveniently. Does not require AC mains nor runs off batteries as well.

Bionic is getting 400rwkw with VCM, cant be that bad..
