OK so I just rang Ford spare parts and they want $1990 for the V8 bonnet - unpainted and unfitted...

I've seen the after market version (~$400) on egay and carbon fibre ones ($1200) from http://www.awcinfo.com/secureshop/category.php?cat_id=294...

Which option is best:

1. pay the extra and get real Ford bonnet knowing there will be no issues with gaps or fitment (approx $2500 painted and fitted)

2. buy a steel after market one off ebay and hope it fits properly with no dodgy gaps (approx $1000 painted and fitted)

3. buy carbon fibre from awcinfo and shed a few pounds in the process (approx $1700 fitted and painted)

I don't want to go anywhere near fibreglass.

Advice appreciated.

I have read a lot of people have the aftermarket steel ones and they fit no problems.

Buy the fibreglass bulge and graft yourself FTW. I'm gunna be a lazy arse probably and just adhere a bulge off ebay to my current bonnet and vynil wrap. Only the whole forum will know my secret

I have a aftermarket steel one. Unless someone told you, you could be fooled into thinking it was a genuine.

Are the BA/BF1 bonnet and the BF2 bonnets the same? Some of them on egay say their bonnet is specifically only for a BA/BF1...?

Eg: http://www.ebay.com....=item3cc53675dd

Do you need to buy any other things for mounting them? eg. insulation, yadda-yadda...?

I was tempted by the same. I read on here somewhere that these bonnets were sh*te and they are really thin gauge and vibrate etc. The other thing I notice in the pics is how far the inner panel is from the outer A-class surface. These need to be bonded together really well or its like two pieces of tin foil trying to hold shape.

BF2 changed the front grill and hood so there will likely be issues.

Let us know if you get one!
