Hi Guys, My zf seems to have an intermitted problem with down shifting.

I usually drive in manual mode once trans temps have warmed up, but lately as I'm slowing down, it sometimes does'nt want to down shift from 4th into 3rd & into 2nd when shifting manually.

If I don't down shift manually when slowing down, it does it automatically anyway. :dontknow:

It has no problems upshifting in manual mode and drives fine in auto mode.

This problem only happens sometimes while driving, most of the time it's ok.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would check for any fault codes, and also look into a gearbox service if it hasn't been done recently. Sometimes they do funny things when the fluid is old/low...

The oil is less than 10,000kms old and there's no milkshake lol.

As for fault codes, should'nt the engine light or other warning lights diplay on the dash?

The ECT light came on once on easter day and the car felt pretty sick until I switched it off. Never came back on since, and the car drives fine.

Sometimes the circuit board for the manual shift plays up like that... It is under the tbar surround, need to pull centre console out to access it

Agree with above, if the box is downshifting in P or D but not manually then it may not be getting the signal to downshift
