26/08/12 12:24 AM26/08/12 12:24 AM #52 nope, I have an MWA shifter. I can adjust the length on mine over a 60mm range, the length its set to in the pic is the best I have found for shift weight without making it feel like a kenworth
27/08/12 02:56 AM27/08/12 02:56 AM #53 Why such long shifters?. Running mine with the smaller momo knob "in the pic" . . Nice and short. Makes the shifting stroke nice and short. Good for quick shifts.
27/08/12 03:18 AM27/08/12 03:18 AM #54 Personally I find with the longer shifter with the rip shifter base I have roughly the same amount of throw as standard maybe 5mm to 10mm less... but yeh with the extra length I have heaps of feel and it's actually easier to shift gears with more leverage too. With the ability to shift with more feel and ease I have more confidence in changing faster.... everyone's different though.
27/08/12 03:48 AM27/08/12 03:48 AM #55 ^whs I'l take a shifter with 10-15mm more throw and a nicely weighted feel over a short shifter that requires stupid amounts of force and has .00001mm tolerance to a mis shift.
27/08/12 05:56 AM27/08/12 05:56 AM #56 Your right each to ya own and how ya like it. . .but even with my solid mounted short stick iv never had trouble missings gears or being extra heavy. Maybe a little more practice is in order lol
27/08/12 06:50 AM27/08/12 06:50 AM #57 I ran a shortened stick and solid bushes for quite sometime. Going back to a longer isolated mount stick is much much nicer and just as quick through the gear with a whole let less noise transmission into the cab.Never missed a shift? not even one????......................................Maybe a little bit more enthusiastic driving is required......?
27/08/12 09:54 AM27/08/12 09:54 AM #58 Just jokin ralphy all good. Giving henz one of my shifters soon. Its ready for him now but he wants me to thread it m12 so his purple *beep* friend can go on. Lol. Funny.
27/08/12 12:26 PM27/08/12 12:26 PM #59 The old VZ SS I had I used to miss 3rd occasionally when stock, not as often as some but often enough.Put a MWA shifter in it and never ever missed 3rd again. I loved it.Shame I now have a ZF :( A proper shifter with a slightly modded handle would be a real treat. I always thought Falcons and Dunnydoors needed to angle the stick over to the right a little.
