I always drive in d

P is crap! Just changes shift points slightly and alters a few other things I've noticed like kickdown

And only use manual mode to make it go into a higher gear after a little squirt if it holds the gear

But once you push the pedal through the floor there is no difference to P and D, my 2 fastest 1/4 mile times were in D!

Also I find if I get a bit of wheelspin p will up shift early, d will leave lines on the road.... Much more fun!

But I've had the ZF tuned now, so it's all different again...

My zf is built stronger, always manual shift even when cruising.

Only time its in D is when im half asleep at 4am driving home lol

I use the tiptronic mode all the time and almmost never just leave in D its crappy u floor it at 60 in D it drops back to 2nd and takes off hold it flat till u get to 80 and back off to about 1/8 throttle and the revs dont drop and it doesnt change up till u excellerate enough to make it rev higher mine has done this to me a few times at over 5500 rpm just before it would change up, if id held it flat for .1 of a second longer it would hit 3rd. its like the gearbox is set up for track work wilst in D ( dont no y u would race on a track in D) every other car ive own that's auto changes up 1 maby 2 gears straigh after lifting off the peddle after a boot in second really annoying! will a zf tune fix this?

Mine does that in D perf, not in D.

There's something like 50 shift profiles that adapt to your driving style, its probably hanging waiting in case you get back on it, then it responds instantly, unlike other cars that then have to drop back gears again.

As a whole even in stock form I find the ZF we have is a great transmission for the street, just adapt your driving style to suit it.

yea tiptronic mode is awsome love the sound it makes wen you change gears and hold it flat only wish that u had to hold it up for half a sec to get it to go into first insted of a normal bump up , sometimes slowing down in tiptronic in 4th u slowdown belo 40ish and it changes to 3rd for u if u double bump down at the same to try to get to second its bad u end up in first doing about 35kmls

but that's user error still little bit annoying I could see sports mode being dangerous in the wet on a long swiping corner for a person new to tiptronic gearboxes

Yeah, I changed down gears a few times only to have the auto change down one more and end up screaming along in first. Now I make sure I beat the computer to the punch so there isn't an extra change down queued up.

Definitely something to point out to people you let drive your car. I've also hit 1st and 2nd and not intended to, but I can tell when it's happening now and if you hit it back up a gear real quick it cancels out the change.

I suppose it depends how used to the gearbox you are, but I always make sure if I'm going from 3rd to 2nd that I always check the screen because if it does change to first at least you can see on your dash about half a second before if goes in, and I just quickly flick right and up into neutral then back down and left and it will cancel it all out, in an emergency situation. That way you can always beat it even if it does jump into first, as soon as you hit neutral it will cancel.
