  1. the fg gas motor green top is the better option for your build the na motor has weak rods and will begin to be unreliable at the 500hp mark especially on 98 the gas motor has very high compression for a turbo motor but its pretty common to see 400kws on 98 on e85 more power can be made the price difference between a na and the gas motor is only a couple hundred bux so id say it worth it you should also try and get a fg turbo intake manifold
  2. hi all im half way through replacing the head bolts with studs. chasing info on what pattern to undo the head bolts down to there first stage ill then replace each one one at a time the arp box says to torque them down to 100 foot pounds and ill be doing that in 3 equal steps. but ive got atomic oversize washer to go with the studs so should I got a little tighter? and what torque should I tighen the caps for the cams back to only asking because I legit cant find the info on the net thanks guys
  3. Happy Birthday nathanway!

  4. thinking about tuning my car on e85 have a few questions how to get it from the barrel to my car ie a rotary pump or electric pump? were to buy peoples experience with 1000cc injectors and were they'll run out were to buy a tester to ensure its e85 not higher or lower were to buy e100 from to mix in off needed and what other people are doing with there setups. planning to do trips to Moranbah from Townsville 2 or 3 barrels at a time as I have family there mods list gtx 35 with soon to be installed xr6turbo developments 45mm external gated rear housing tbre stage one cams (tbre wont tell the numbers but aparantly its similar to atomic stage 4) plasmaman surge and twin 044s with new fuel reg 1000cc ids nizpro built zf hardie built tale shaft stock converter upgraded dif cradle atomic oil pump 4inch exhaust rapid cooler /air box mt 275s hoping for about 440ishkw with e85 and easy into the 10s heading to power cruise this year in sep just trying to sort out all the bugs and get her running sweet asap
  5. awesome read mate ive got a very similar set up but I went a gtx3582 turbo instead ( picked it up really cheap) and a set of nice slightly to large cams just for the wank factor I too had huge boost problems cars making 395kw on 98 with 18psi but on the roll on in 3rd the ported rear housing couldn't keep up and was spiking to like 27psi so I too have orded the external gate rear housing from xr6t developments haven't received it yet little worried that its gonna be a bit loud, how do you find yours think youll plumb it back in the future? also about to buy and install a 1200 fuel reg so I can switch over to e85 for power cruze this year, did u install it your self and was it hard? did you run a aftermarket boost controller with the external gate? cheers and yea wrap looks sweet
  6. mine on my fg is much louder than the stock 3576, and its just nuts if you take the bov off makes it soo loud its just stupid
  7. hey how did you get pressurised oil for the oil pressure sender? you gota a pic is it a easy job thinking about installing my self but not sure
  8. I got the car tuned at 80000klms to 300kw but its was tuned with lots of boost down low and less up top it used to hit 21psi than taper off to 12-13psi ( was a bad tune ) so it had a huge surge of torque at 3000rpm but died very fast just general flogging it with good tyres and people in the car it slowly started slipping in 4th when changing from 3rd to 4th at full power eventually it wouldn't even changed to 4th or 5th and a few months later it started slipping going into 3rd from 2nd kept coming up as tran fault and was changing very slowly problems started when I got it tuned up and got a zf tune , they tuned it and it made it slopper they tried again and they made it a little better but still was worse then standard so I took it back and got the stock tune put back in and it was better I looked into getting others to build the box but ended up just going nizpro just because they have race proven cars with zfs running 9s I got the drive shaft done after in fear that the super harsh changes the box does now combined with slicks would snap it and smash under the car car now had 400kw (gtx35) and going a e85 tune soon to go closer to 450 than in a year or so when I buy a new work ute ill give the misso my currant ute and get the car built and new turbo set up than im going for 600 and a 9.9 having slight problems with the new box still not sure if its anything though comes up with a fault if I drive it around in manual mode to much wont change down from 3rd to second when rolling up to lights , fingers crossed its just in the tune or its not to serious cant remember the code but it was something to do with a solenoid fault
  9. hey guys back for some more advice ive done gtx3582 tbre stage 1 cams built auto with stock converter plasmaman surge with twin pumps 044s all surporting mods so far ive only done the 98 tune with one pump but im looking into doing the e85 tune and ill be connecting up the other pump ive been told ill need a new fuel reg will need to do the fuel rail as well? im looking for 430 450kwish and into the 10s next meet next Q is about a converter what are people running (sorry about being in the fuel section) want It to stall to 3200-3500ish and not to hunt on its self thanks any advice would be great
  10. im about to do this cant you just unplug the line from your surge and connect it to a hose to a bucket and pump the fuel out than reconnect the fuel line and than fill up with a jerry can havnt tried to do this but that's what I was told to do
  11. sorry to drag up a mega old thread but would I be better off getting a e85 race tune or sticking to 98 and getting a watermeth kit and getting a race tune to use at the strip keep in mind that theres no e85 in Townsville , looking to get close to 450kw out of my gtx 3582
  12. have since replaced turbo with gtx3582 done a set of tbre cams ( stage 4 atomic equivalent ) tbre oil pump plaz surge twin 044s only done the 98 tune so far its made 395.5 rwkw on 18psi ( wanted safe tune for 98) going to push with the e85 tune hoping for 430-450kw shooting for 10.9 with the 98 tune and into the 10s with e85
  13. ended up running a 11.80 @ 116mph on mt 275 streets 1.7 60 full weight built zf stock converter and a retune to 322rwkw
  14. the bolt for the guides are down near the sump and the hole motor as to either come out or the hole fame has to be droped away to remove the sump to get to the bolts +the timing chain cover just had this problem, replaced guides chain and tensioner got new oil pump and set of cams cost me 1500 in labour its a big job
  15. hello all , after a long road ive just got the first tune on my xr complete so far its made 395.5rwkw on 98 with a easy tune running 18psi next step is to switch up to barrel e85 change the fuel reg and fuel rail and go for 430-450rwkw and go for a mid 10 pass so far the car had ran a 11.8 @ 116mph (322kw) with the baby turbo with out cams or oil pump or fuel system I raced it and ran the 11.8 only to drive back to Townsville and the stock turbo let go as we got home (thank god mackay is 4hrs away) so I race out and brought a gtx3582r and bolted it on took my rear housing to mtq and got it ported and bolted it all back together, drove it over to tms (about 1klm down the road) for a quick touch up tune to make it driveable before upgrading the fuel system to suit the bigger turbo mtq stuffed up the mod and didn't install a large enough flapper and the tuner was unable to control the boost below 18psi and that's way to much air for the stock fuel system to cope with so I drove it about like a diesel only reving it to 3500rpm for like a month till I had the money to start the next round of mods about a week before it was booked into start the mods my missus rang me up and said its making a bad noise when it revs about 2000rpm, I told her to drop it over to tms straight up and see what they think turns out the cam chain guides and tensioner are fok'd. than im told that to get to the bolts for the guides you need to drop the sump :/ so I ended up getting it fixed and while its all apart I got the tbre oil pump with billet gears and a set of tbre stage 1 cams, along with a plasmaman surge tank with twin 044s (only running one atm with 98 tune) and a retune after a bit of trial and error the tune is good making good power with a lumpy idle ( cams ended up being much more aggressive than first thort) its been a rough ride getting it to this stage but its all done properly with just about every surport mod I could do to keep it safe at this level basically the only thing left to do is to build the motor and go a new turbo set up with boost 6 manifold mods so far include rapid systems intercooler and piping turbo side intake with relocated battery to oppersite side 4inch exhaust turbo back 1000cc id injectors 38mm turbosmart bov gtx3582R turbo with mod'ed gate tbre oil pump tbre stage 1 cams (apparently equivalent to atomic stage 4) plasmaman surge with twin 044 all wired up for both only running 1 atm new oil line with filter for the turbo xcal 3 adjustable suspension molly tale shaft built about 5 times by hardy spicer cause there spaz and couldnt get it right for some reason nizpro build zf stage 2.5 with billet intermediate shaft good for about 600kw ( cost lots!) mt 275 street radials hoping for 10.9 with 98 and mid 10 with e85 wish list for the future tbre built motor good for 1000hp + boost 6 turbo manifold twin external gates gtx45 turbo at least a 9.9 sec pass but im waiting for e85 to be at the pump before I get a built motor this not sure if I have to do the fuel rail to run e85 if I should go a gtx 45 turbo or a gtx 42 what 1000cc id injectors max out at and whats the next size injector I should run to go 600-700kw if I should get the crank done when I build the motor what the go is with the destroker kits and if its worth it any help would be great
