June 25, 201115 yr #1 hey boys just seeing if anyone noes but im buying a xr6t 2004 manual still fresh with 100ks its got a bigger cooler and cat back exhaust but I took it for a drive today and I didnt thrash it to much but when I steped on it in 2nd got to about 4500-5000 and it so of lagged/missed it was weird the bloke said its always done it but if u ease into it, it wont do it he thinks its because its got a bigger cooler and not tuned and its always been ran on 98 and it mite be to high octane for it just wondering if anyones got any ideas or had this problem thanks
June 25, 201115 yr #2 Bigger cooler and no tune. It's doing that because it hasn't been tuned and the boost is spiking. The fuel excuse is laughable!I'd be leaving that one alone.
June 26, 201115 yr #3 could have been low on fuel, mine does it at just under 1/4 tank Edited June 26, 201115 yr by Gasman
June 26, 201115 yr #4 Gasman I dont think that is ok for a car to do that mate. Next time you put your foot down you might explode the engine.
June 26, 201115 yr #5 might be a good thing, have an excuse to rebuild under warranty. Im sure I have read around the forums that its common in the early t's. I dont think its ok either btw.
June 26, 201115 yr #6 A stock car doesn't do that. Only tuned cars. You're never going to get an engine replaced under warranty on a modified car and it's wrong to try.
June 26, 201115 yr #9 Bigger cooler and no tune. It's doing that because it hasn't been tuned and the boost is spiking. The fuel excuse is laughable!I'd be leaving that one alone. How does a bigger intercooler make the boost spike?
June 26, 201115 yr #10 I'm tipping the car back exhaust also included a cat and therefore there is boost spike.
