Rear Suspension "Bang"

Hi Everyone.

Ive had some issues in the rear end of my car that no one can identify.

Whenver I drive over a bump, the front end is fine but thback end sounds very loud.

The car is a 2007 XR T with 55k on the clock. I thought it may have been worn out shocks so installed new Bilsteins and king springs but the noice remains. It is on both sids but doesnt occur over every bump.

I'm thinking bushes or somehting loose. I took a Ford mechanice for a drive and even Pedders say they couldn't hear it (are the deaf) and recently had new tyres put on it but nothing was said.

Anyone else had this issue? Does any one have any idea? I know its difficult without driving the car but maybe someone here has the same problem.

Sounds silly, but have you checked everything in the boot? Maybe clear absolutely everything out of the boot - spare wheel, boot liner everything - and see if you can isolate it.

Im one step ahead. I have removed all from the boot, checked the rear plate, the buffers on the boot lid to stop it jiggling. Its definately suspension noise and sounds like the shocks are sloose but I know they are not.

But it is carried over from the original shocks.

I don't think you'll be able to diagnose without seeing the car and I don't expect that. I just thought someone else may have had the same issue. It could be just me. Im just too finicky.

but I hate ratlles and creaks.

2 problems I had

1) ball joint on the control arm (or whatever it's called) http://www.trueblueford.com/images/BA_IRS1_l45.jpg the yellow thing on the left of the photo mounted between the control blade and the shock. Keep in mind that you can't tell it's f*cked when the wheels are hanging in the air, you got to raise the car by jacking it under the lower control arms so the wheel spring is compressed but the wheel is in the air, if you know what I mean.

2)roll bar links, replaced the bushes but one of the actual links is f*cked and the bush doesn't sit tightly. I think it's time for one of senna's sway bar links.

Without wanting to sound ignorant (which I am), is that easy to diagnose?

You sure its not coming from your drive line anywhere?

also check your sway bar.. just had the xr5 (bum dragger yes)... tightened as it was loose...

Id say its to do with your bigger sway bars. I had a similar issue once with after market sway bars.

Was this happening before you had the exhaust fitted?

After fitting my exhaust I found it was hitting badly when the rear went over some bumps, not all.

This noise was happening BEFORE the sway bars were fitted and before the exhaust and before the new shocks and springs.

maybe your car is falling apart like the rest of them...

if it was before all these things were changed, and you have had all these things changed, its not from your boot, then maybe its from your diff/drive line...
