If you dont go to any dodgy places, you'll be fine.. IMO the news just blow it up a bit, any little scuffle and the media pounce. It was probably the same last year, but not 'noticed' as much..If your relying on public transport then spend most of the time in the city, heaps of hotels and as said above, everything is in walking/tram distance..
