Are the FG's utes IRS?

No none of the falcon utes have IRS. Please ford don't follow Expensive Daewoo with their IRS utes. The Late model camira may drive better unloaded in the road tests, but in the real world with half a ton or more of load they are going to struggle at the same time eating tyres because with IRS the rear track is constantly changing with every throttle or brake application and every bump. In years to come the most common replacement (apart from tyres) for Expensive Daewoo utes will be the four uni-joints in the half shafts. Not so with a live rear axle. If you don't want a skittish ride in an unloaded ute get a sedan.

I thought the best falcon ute available for a workhorse was the superseeded RTV ute. Increased ground clearance and a manually locking diff (under 40km/h). The local gov bought these in big numbers because they were a sensible package.

To my knowledge there is only one ute in the world made with IRS, that'a because its a stupid idea.

Anyway that's my 2cents worth.

Cant we have atleast one ute left as a ute for those of us that actually work our xr's and leave the dunny doors with there whimpy irs for the posers.. gees if they go irs I'd have to go back to a 4by ute.. Me thinks irs is the wrong direction when you think what it is a ute is spose to do for a living

I agree with this to a point - as I have mentioned several times in the past, please give us the "pay-a-little-extra" option to have at least the IRS in a FPV UTE.

I got mine purely for recreational driving, and am/was more than willing to pay for an IRS option in this otherwise very nice UTE. I didn't get a FPV, and mod it to 370rwkw just to go and haul concrete! No way, sir - I would take the increased high-speed capabilities over better loading capabilities any day - but, that is applicable in my case - with saying that, I do fully realize the value of a live-axle for heavy towing/loading.

Just give us the option for those few that wants/needs IRS for our application

I paid 36k for my Bogan special on road, and I can safely say in a manual it is much quicker than 6.1 0-100...

The Turbos are awesome and have been even since the BA which is what I had for 12 months. But its chalk and cheese in comparison now. The BA did feel like a taxi where as the VE feels nice and light and comfortable. Would like it to be a lottle quicker but that's getting fixed lol. Big phat cam, lumpy idle and 600hp of NA goodness.

Sound nice, keep us posted - only prob I have with phat cams are the horrendous fuel consumption. But, if not a daily driver, stacks of fun!

I have only owned utes I have driven different utes at work but I don't drive a ute because they give me a good ride or because they are a drivers car. I drive utes because they are what I need, I cant throw stuff in the back of a wagon or sedan and not care, and I cant carry bricks timber or tools in wagon or sedan without doing some damage.

And the same goes for why I don't drive a Expensive Daewoo ute. Apart from Hay Bails and empty cardboard boxs a Expensive Daewoo ute (higher omega) can't carry any thing a wagon or sedan can't, throw a hard cover on and chances are you will have to take the hay out. So I don't understand why someone would buy a Expensive Daewoo ute and brag that they ride better.

And to that I ask, how many vehicles are there in the Ford range which can carry the same as a Expensive Daewoo Ute (jack all) that would have much better ride and handling?

Why do people who care about ride and handling buy a ute when they don't intend to use the rear?

Its good to see ford are still keeping thier performance utes practical while still maintaining thier performance (even if they may not handle quite as well unloaded in comparison to the irs Late model camira utes)

How many times do you hear this type of claim? Even though car testers spend hours pretty much breaking gear boxes to get those times.

Even if the Bogan special ute got mid 5sec 0-100(at absolute best), its hardly "much quicker". Sure if his is such a "safe" argument, there is some type of proof?
